Ford 150 Econoboost Engine

What has anyone heard about towing with this setup?

I just purchased a 2012 lariat supercrew 5.5' bed.
With the max tow package you can tow 11,300lbs with a payload of 1920lbs.
I have not towed with mine yet because it is too cold to go camping.
The ecoboost has gotten very good reviews though.

Picked up our new Wildwood 241QB on 2/4/12 with my 2011 F150 with the EcoBoost engine and 3:55 ls axle. The EcoBoost ran like the trailer was not even there. Sure the trailer was empty and only weighs about 4100 lbs. But I had a 2006 and then a 2009 with the 5.4 and would tow a 3200 lb trailer and both would down shift on the slightest hill. The EcoBoost was upshifting climbing the same grade after stopping at the bottom of the hill. Mileage looks like the the 5.4 in the 2009 might be better. But then again 22 miles bringing the trailer home is not a fare judgement trip. Can not what for the weather to break and to start using the trailer.

Something wrong with your echoboost RG if it's upshi*ting

No the transmission should up shift as the speed of the vehicle increases. The difference is the 5.4 with the six speed would only see 35-40 mph at the top of the hill and 3rd or 4th gear. The ecoboost with six speed will be at 50-55 mph and 5th gear. So yes it should upshift to the next gear.

Welcome to the F/R forum.

The E/B is a great motor. How the F-150 is configured will have an impact on its tow / haul ratings.

I love my E/B with the max tow package. 365 hp with 420lb torque improves towing mileage. It has 90% torque from 1700rpm to 5000rpm. I have 3:73 gearing for 11,300# cap. It gets my 7000# 8280WS up to highway speed in a hurry. The tow package includes expandable mirrors, built in brake controller, 36 gal tank, screen display with brake value and accumulated towing mileage, retractable side box steps, on dash display checklist before towing, anti sway that applies trailer brake if it feels trailer swaying, transmission temp guage, oversized transmission cooler, and there's a hookup camera option I don't have. (not necessary for 5th wheel)

I'm sure I missed something. It tows a lot more than my 5.4 V8 at 300hp and 7300# cap. It's difficult to get over the V6 good, V8 better thing but I'm a believer.

With empty truck, I've been pulling G's re-living the feeling we used to get in the 60's with the old 427 Fords. It get's up to 60 in a hurry.

Have you seen the video Mike Rowe of "Dirty Jobs" made about the Eco Boost? Awesome! Ford has got something good here. Light years ahead of GM, and they did it without any Fed money!!!!!

Hi new here! We bought our Ford F150 with Eco Boost last April...and LOVE IT! it's is unbelievably great on gas. We have our Roo in a trailer park and have to drive 3 hours from home (highway driving)...and the comfort we get in our F150 is great. The space in the back seat for the 3 kids and a dog is a huge bonus....loads of room! We looked at another brand (may have been a Dodge) and it just didn't compare. We wouldn't trade it for nothing!

Since coming back from our towing trip, my 1,300 mile MPG average is 20.4!! Unbelievable for a 6,000 pound truck.

Just had my first camping trip with the 2012 Ford F-150 Eco-Boost and if did far better than my 2009 Chevy Siverado 1500. I pulled a Rockwood Roo (GVWR 5,743) 100 miles one way in elevations of 5,600 to 9,600 ft. Not only did it have enough pulling power, I could actually pass cars and had plenty of peddle left even at those elevations.

A ...2012 F 150 .. 3.5 L ECOBOOST engine...Super crew (4 full passenger doors )... 6 1/2 foot box ...4x2..Limited slip 3.73 axel... 1. Heavy duty payload package..2 Max Towing package.. (those are 2 seperate.. but important options) Xlt or lariat trim levels ...gives around 11,300-11,100 lbs of towing.. Either 5th wheel or TT.. and 2,600 lbs of payload capacity ....

Just had our first trip with the new Rockwood and eco boost. I couldn't be happier with both.

My 5.4L V8 towed a 5000# Sunline ay 10mpg. The new V6 towed the 8000# 5th wheel at 11mpg. It quickly got up to highway speed (short run) and navigated the Adirondack mts without slowing down. Very impressed!
