Fresh water tank mishap
We bought out trailer (not new to RV ownership) this past January (2017 FR Wildwind). Used it for a total of 7 days, not even in a row when, out on our last camping trip, we noticed low water pressure. Went ourside to check and this is what we found (see pictures). Never seen anything like this. No cross support for tbe water tank whatsoever. It was apparently just hanging there on parallel bars. Stupid, and clearly not a good design. Ruined our camping plans for the rest of June and so far July too. [emoji35] Don't even know when we'll l get it back.[emoji36] Has this happened to anyone?

I had this happen this June in Michigan. Called Coach net and they send someone out to fix it. They drilled and bolted the front crossbrace brackets into the frame. It is very sturdy now

Ours did not fall out, but was sagging in the middle.
We were running out of water faster than we should. After I dropped the underbelly, I noticed the sag in the water tank from the lack of support. There was about 15+ gallons of water that was bellow the pick up hose.
I used treated 1x6 to make a floor for the tank to seat on. Then I tied the front and rear braces with 1/2" tubing.

Ran two stainless steel straps across the belly of tank and secured them to the cross members. Was not going to take a chance with FR...slap together and sell trailers.

Same thing happened to our 2015 Crusader 28RL as Captain America except ours still had 40 gallons of the 60 it holds in it when it would fold in the middle and not pick up water anymore. GRV had it for three months for warranty work and couldn't find anything wrong with the tank. I looked at it in the spring of '16 and found the problem. I added 3/16" x 3" steel plate every 3" across the bottom of the tank with 1/4" plywood in between each steel piece. Problem solved.

You're not the 1st.
We had a 2002 Vanguard Legend 290 5th wheel with the complete belly insulated with sprayfoam for winter living when the tank fell out. I can't remember what was worse dealing with the stuck on sprayfoam or remounting the tank. Never towed with more than a 1/4 tank ever since. Remember, a trailer bouncing down the road is like a jackhammer.

I'm getting ready to order a 2018 Rockwood Ultra V 2618VS in a couple of weeks, however I'm starting to second guess that decision based on this thread and so many others I've read just like it illustrating serious FW tank support bending and complete failures where the FW tank falls out even on brand new trailers.
What is even more disheartening to me as a prospective FR customer is how many years back these FW tank support problems have been going on and the problem has still not been fully resolved in the design/manufacturing process by FR.
Case in point...I was told just last week by a FR factory rep that they are now adding additional FW tank support braces to address this issue, however he said that owners still should not travel with their FW tank more than 1/2 to 3/4 full even with the added support!
My question is are there any Rockwood Ultra V owners out there who have actually experienced this FW tank support problem. If so, I'd love to hear about it, and what I hear will likely influence my purchasing decision. Since these models have an enclosed underbelly, there may be owners out there with a FW tank problem and don't even know it.

With our Heritage Glen I've always filled our FW tank to 1/3 or 1/2 full before a dry camping trip. Our travel partner has always said that our rig "leaks" water on every turn. When we arrive in camp we need to fill. So there no worry about the FW tank dropping. I've recently added shut-off valves on the over flow FW pipes. That should stop the leakage. We've a closed underbelly so maybe I should inspect the FW supports!

It's not only FR, all trailers in a certain price range can have similar issues, regardless of brand.
