Front Hitch Bike Rack

I was packing up our new 23IKSS tonight for her maiden voyage. I put the bikes inside the trailer and I really was not crazy about it. I can just see them flying all over as we go down the road and dinging up the interior real well.

I am wondering about putting a hitch and bike rack in the front of my vehicle. Has anyone ever done this? We have a 2007 Tahoe. I could see it feeling weird at first, but I am not sure what my other options are.

I have one on my truck. Works great. Not in your sight enough to be a problem. Very easy to install

took about half hour right in my driveway. Your Tahoe should be similar to my Chevy truck. Curt hitch from www.hitchanything.com was only about 120 shipped.

I fabbed up a 2" receiver that mounts to the snowplow frame under my bumper on my F-350. At first I thought it was going to be kinda dorky tooling down the road with 4 bikes hanging off the front but it really don't look that bad. In fact it was the only way I could carry them safely and didn't want them bouncing around inside my fiver. There's no good way to keep bug guts off them tho. I wasn't going to use some sort of cover because it woulda blocked air flow to my radiator and trans cooler. That's the only draw back.

I have been using a front receiver with bike rack for a long time. I like the fact I can see the bike in front of me. Never felt good about having them on the back of the trailer.

With a bit of welding, it also serves as the front support for my kayak

Thanks for the pictures, that really helps! You don't find them blocking your view much? I think I will be ordering my hitch soon!

I have to lower the seats down for a clear view of the road directly beyond my hood-line, other than that it's not an issue. I was concerned driving at night but the headlights AND my fog lights shine brightly on the road thru the bike rims. It's nice being able to keep an eye on the bikes as you bounce down the road. It beats having them behind the trailer bumper mounted like we had on our old Jayco travel trailer. You're always wondering if they are still secure or hanging on by a thread.

I put a Curt hitch on the front of my F150. Took about 30 minutes. I take the seats off the bikes and have no problems with the view. Click image for larger version
