Have you ever heard of this?
We are in negotiations on a camper that we found and really really like. This camper has the potential to be the "last camper" we'll need. (Notice I said need, not want )
Here's the problem: We have been told that the camper is "illegitimate" that it was a late manufacture, very few were made that late and there is no NADA value, therefore the banks won't lend money for it. They said it would have to be a cash deal.

They said bank, they're supposedly talking to a c.u. to see if they can do, I guess we'll see. I kinda thought they were full of shaving cream so I figured you guys have heard it all...... perhaps just not meant to be..... time will tell

Maybe its a demo model, like a preproduction run. Lowball them big time on the price, but you need to back that up with cash in hand.

Clancey,
if you mean the dealer when you say "they", then why not go to a bank or CU and find out what the real deal is. In my experience dealer arranged financing is not always the best option anyway.
All the banks want is securities or collateral whatever that is and they'll hand you the town on a silver platter.

I agree, sounds fishy. I wouldn't do it, but that's just my two cents.

I'd do own research. Sounds to me that they WANT you to finance thru them. I'd definitely low ball, then hand them a certified check from another institution. Don't expect any after sale service though.
2000 Cherokee 31BH, "flipped axles and raised",LEDs, solar, inverter, etc..aka "boondock ready". '07 Tundra 5.7L DC-LB, modded as well. C-co, 8/158th, AVN.

X2 - is there a clear title with this " illegitimate " camper? Who's the manufacture and who's the person selling it?
Might be better to run away rather than walk.

I was suggesting you use your own bank or credit union. That's what we do. Walked in with check in hand. And 2.49% Apr.

Agree. NEVER NEVER NEVER let your dealer arrange your financing.
My wife works in automotive finance (20+ years) and I asked her. She has never heard of such a thing as you cannot finance because its not in KBB or NADA.
If this is private party, run like hell and don't look back. If this is a dealer, I would contact the states attorney generals office. Most salivate at the thought of busting dealer fraud.

I've never heard of it put this way- but now that you mention it I will relay something I've run into. Our first camper was a used Tahoe by Thor. It was a 2003, model number 23FB, if I remember correctly. The model number was NOT listed in NADA. I paid cash for it, but it was ~8 years old at the time. Sounds like the same kind of deal. Maybe a prototype model they decided not to produce???

I'm guessing there are lots of other campers out there that you want or need and for a price that will fit your budget. I think I'd keep looking if it were me.
