Help finding good campgrounds!!

We just bought the Sandpiper 355RE - and all the campgrounds we try to go to say it is TOO BIG. Does anyone know of a good resource for finding decent campgrounds? The ones that do let us in -- just put us in a caliche parking lot because we don't fit anywhere else. Help !!!!

Congradulations on the new Sandpiper. We love ours and hope you do as well.
I have never heard of the 42ft being too long for most campgrounds. I would recommend using Allstays campground locator.

X2 on read the reviews they'll help you figure out what is big rig friendly and what is a decent campground. My sabre is 40'. I have learned I need to stick to rv resorts and certain state parks. Unfortunately, the bigger you are, the more limited your camping options are.

Thanks for the tips - we have only taken the trailer out 4 times - and 2 of those times we got spots that were face to face, (door facing door) and with strangers it can be very uncomfortable. I'm still waiting on a "fun" camping trip - has not happened yet.

where abouts do you want to camp? I have been to many FL state parks that are filled with big units... I can give you some names if FL is where you want to go...

I carry my trusty GS travel guide. Gives you lots of info on the camp grounds and works great when no WiFi available. Later RJD

I have an iphone app called "RV Parky" tells you every campground where you are going as well as Friendly Walmarts, Cabelas etc that will let you stay for free. usually has reviews and phone numbers to call ahead too. Your rig doesn't seem that far out of bounds for size... mine is 37' from rear tailgate to front of the hitch and we find places - but call ahead! our rule is to be off the road by 4:00 or you will be way behind the 8 ball for a decent spot. Good luck - this forum has people in places you are going that always want to help too!

X2 on the Allstays app. I've used it to find good campgrounds all over the country. Using the reviews function will get you to several sources, including RVreviews. The app provides info on about everything you might need for trip planning.
