Help for a hard mattress

Just woke from our first night "practice camping" in the driveway with our new Rockwood Mini Lite 2109s. My only real complaint is the hard mattress. Any suggestions from those who have been there before?

All the big box stores sell toppers of various thicknesses and densities. Do some research on pros/cons of the different types and add it to your mattress.

Sams club sells a "night therapy" in RV sizes. We spent $200. Well worth it

Not sure what the S&B is, but the mattress that came with the 2017 hardside a-frame we just bought was harder than we liked. Tried a couple things we had here, mattress pads etc and it kept improving but still wasn't right. Got the 3" memory foam mattress topper and it was perfect. Now to get on the road with it.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. It sounds like the 3" topper is the way to go. Looking online now. If anyone has a link to their particular favorite, please let me know.

BTW, I am already finding this forum to be invaluable for a newbie like me!

Yup...horrible mattresses from the factory are pretty common...we went out and bought a new mattress, world of difference. RV mattresses are usually a shorter than residential...so if you have a queen, you would be looking for a queen short. RV mattresses are 6 in shorter. Your RV however may be able to accommodate a regular size mattress, you'll have to measure. If you do a search in the forums here, it has been discusses at great length....some have also used a memory foam topper and are happy with that. Search the topic, reading material there to last you a day.

Yes, you can use a topper on a heated mattress. We have spent Christmas at Seacliff, CA and at Brookings, OR. Very cold and rainy but the mattress heated nicely with a 3" foam topper.

We put a 1 1/2 inch memory foam topper on both of our campers and our king bed at home. All beds are very comfortable to sleep on. The key to buying is quality and density of foam.

We got our foam topper at Wal-Mart a few years ago. Has been the perfect fix for our old tt and our current fiver.
