Only cars can use the designated EZ Pass lanes in NY for that reason unless there has been a big change recently.
Sept 2015 we towed our rig from KY to Bar Harbor Maine and back.
(don't mean to be obvious about that "and back" part! We took a different route on the way back...)
I wanted to get my EZ Pass transponder in WV but they only sell them at
the court house?? Just paid my toll with cash and got one in Hershey PA since they sell them at grocery stores there.

I don't remember if we went thru all attended lanes in NY or not. If I did it was purely by accident as I didn't know about any lane restriction for trailers. I believe we were charged correctly...... in fact I'm pretty sure I did go thru the EZ Pass only lanes because they usually had the shortest lines or no line at all....

You can add KY to the EZ Pass state list pretty soon. They are finishing two bridges over the Ohio River at Louisville and crossing them on I 65 will be a toll. I believe they start charging late 2016 or some time in 2017.
These bridges won't have any toll plaza at all. Either you have a transponder or they snap your license and mail you a bill. Of course if they mail you a bill there will be "handling charges" as billing will be done by a contractor and they've gotta get their cut.

The I 64 bridge will remain toll free.

Hi. Has anyone found a perfect spot to mount an EZPass on a C class. Or should I just hold it out the window as I approach. No time to go get a license plate transponder. Leaving soon. Thanks!

Many mount it low on the windshield and it works fine. Just above the dashboard.

On my class a it is at the bottom of the windshield on my cars it is behind the rear view mirror. Either way I bet it works. Even if it doesn't the do toll by plate anyway.

Mine just sits on the dashboard of my DD. If the transponder does not register, they of course take an image of your tag. If the tag is registered to a valid transponder no harm no fowl. If it happens too many times you will have go to the Ezpass offices to have it checked. Ask me how I know. Well... I "shared" a transponder with the Mrs' car. (both cars were registered to that transponder) and the transponder rarely left her car

EZ Pass for Class C

I have not had any success using the EZPass with my Class C. I tried low on front windshield but the overhang is too big. In West Virginia, I tried holding it out the window as I approached but that didn't work either. I can tell you from experience with my motorcycle in Virginia (I carry the EZPass in a windshield bag), I have to ride to ensure the pass is directly beneath the reader. Even though this generally works, some scanners still miss it. (and for those that say, no worry, they'll just read your license plate and charge you.....yes, but if it happens frequently at all, you'll start to rack up additional fines for every time the sensor doesn't pick it up.)

I have not tried the license plate transponder. This may be a good way to go. However, the EZPass website said the license plate transponder is not optimized for Virginia toll roads where the readers are directly overhead. Another option might be to make a bracket that attaches to the license plate screw but allows the EZPass to be at a better angle for the reader.

Many including myself had/have the EZPASS mounted at the bottom of the windshield in the center. Don't know why you pass doesn't work there. Is there another obstruction other than the overhang?

Are you sure if is not getting weak from age as well? I used an Ezpass in a Bearcat. It is RPG rated and filly armored with 6" glass in the windshield and the Ezpass worked fine. Cell phones / GPS no such luck!

That would look good in my driveway.

Yes, but at 3mpg 550k and each tire weighing 300lbs it is a beast (44's I think are on it). EDIT: Might be 37's now that I think of it... Either way fun!

You need to go to the EZ-pass website and register it to every vehicle (by Tag number) you plan to use it in. I would not be too concerned about an occasional mis-read as they will photo the tag and charge your account ( no penalty in most states) if the vehicle (tag) is registered with EZ=pass.

I had an Oldsmobile that gave me 4 to 5 mpg, sometimes 7 going to Atlantic City. I had to fill tank each way.

The price is a bit stiff for me unless it has a toilet.

I going to guess that your EZPASS transponder is not working properly. I think that was alluded to in a previous post or two. If you have another transponder in your family you could swap them and see if the other one works.

It is a diesel... But at 26,000lbs on a f550 chassis it is a beast.
