How to you stabilize/chock your wheels?

When i bought my roo about 5 years ago it came with a home made set of wheel chocks, think that is what you call them. The were made with a steel bar, two triangle pieces of wood and then on the bar was one slide adjuster and one that you cranked to tighten. they could be a paid to set but worked great. So of course i kept them for my new palo, but they just wont fit, not enough space behind the fenders. they looked kind of like this....




Ill store them away or give to a friend but need to get something for the new camper. i saw the X-chock which look nice. but price wise i am thinking some basic wedges would be fine. anyone have trouble with basic wedges? heck with the old Pop up i just used a couple pieces of fire wood lol

Just a suggestion. See if they will fit by putting them in with the crank on the bottom.

I still use my homemade wood chocks that are like yours.
Been using them for almost 9 years now.
But never had to "choke" the wheels.

Might try replacing the pipe with a 3/4" reddy-bolt and nuts.

not sure what reddy - bolt is but guessing its kind of like what i call threaded rod. Long rod all threaded, couple washers, couple nuts and a ratched

I have always used normal black rubber chalks and never had any issue. You don't have to hammer them in like you see in the movie RV with robin Williams. They are cheap and store just as easy as other items and only take 30 sec's to install.

exactly, but they are kind of a pain at times. I am thinking it would be quicker and easier to just put wedges.

thanks, ya i am thinking of just going with some basic wedges or Chalks as you call them for the quick and easy set up. The faster things are set up (mine take some time to get right) the faster i am sitting by the fire tipping a cold one

I got the xchocks because I wanted less movement when in the camper and they do seem to help some.
For parking at home I use a couple of 4x4 chunks which when camping go under the stab jacks and I use a couple of yellow plastic wheel chocks plus the x-chocks.

It takes me no time to install the x-chocks...because my son does it for me! LOL

I bought a pair of x-chocks for my pop up. I got them for X-mas and have not used them yet but I think they will work great. I almost bought the yellow Camco kind but was unable to look at them in person and judge. The X-Chock seemed to have a better crank system.

Not looking to start a flame war here. Just saying that i think the X-chocks will work well.

we have the same as the link above and LOVE them, but we bought them thru amazon for cheaper. we used to use the chocks that you wedge under the tire but still had the wobble when walking inside. these take that wobble away better.

we love these, it takes ALL the guess work out of leveling.

I agree with others regarding the added stability especially from front to back motion. I notice many set-ups with wedges in which one or both of the Chocks are loose due to movement within the RV.

oh so true, the first one is usually cracked while i walk the site to see where i want the camper

I made a set of the 4x4 pipe clamp type, they work good......only had to cut crank handle down to have clearance under fender to floor.....can,t use with crank down....ground is in the way.......I like to have the wood far enough apart on the tires (up and down) so they do have enough leverage to be useful.
