Inside Rooftop AC

Had a few cooling issues last weekend with the AC in the RV. After we returned home from camping, I pulled the cover off and found a lot of stink bugs. Shop vac worked good on getting them out. I also noticed that inside around the framing there was an opening to the inside rafters. There once was a roof vent there and we had the second AC installed. There were staples protruding from the framing as it looked as though it was covered before. This is the side where the wiring comes through. I am assuming that this opening of about 5" x 14" needs to be covered and sealed up and I correct?
