I use broken putters for fire pokers. If you go to a miniature golf course and ask if they have any broken ones. They will usually have a few and give them to you. I have given my friends many and have a 5-6 still in the garage. I also have tongs for moving logs. I also left my fire poker at a campsite years ago that I made at Boy Scout camp when I was 16. I was really mad at myself for a long time after that but now that I have all of these putters I never have lost one yet

No wood, no smoke ~~ love the propane fire pit. Too big to not see when packing up ~~~ at least for now. One day I'll be like a few others that can hide their Easter eggs and still have fun trying to find them.

I retired from a scrap recycling center. I operated a car shredder and found a lot of fireplace pokers. I gave them away to camping friends and kept one for myself. Recycling centers are a great place to look for them.

Oops, lost power & internet as I was typing. Sending by hotspot now.

I need to get one of these...DW isn't happy without a fire. I could push or pull it...fire means work for me. Cut and split wood, store wood, load wood, unload wood. We either run out or leave at CS or haul back home.

Cold weather...I am ok with it, but I bought a LPG outdoor heater for that.

The good and the bad:

The bad is forgetting something at the campsite. The good is as we get older we forget what we forgot.

No dirty wood, no bugs. I connect to 1# tanks but have connected to the 30# 5er tank too. When I shut the gas off fire is out, no chance of restarting or waiting for it to cool, just close the lid and go inside.

I was born and raised till about 30 YO in Texas... then I moved to Arkansas. I still consider myself a Texan and always will. I own property in Texas... does that count?

My mother(very wise lady) always said "The truth hurts son!" Yes. It does sometimes.

Ha ha, found a couple of root beers, juice drinks and bottles of water all iced down. In another bear box I found an open bottle Jack Daniels, cheap charcoal bbq. Today I found an air mattress.

I'm gonna brag that in over a decade of camping, I have only left one thing behind and that was last summer.

I left (lost) my dignity when I screwed up pulling out of a tight dispersed camping spot and did about $8,000 in damage to my 5th wheel. I've gone to this spot many times but this was the first time pulling in/out of the "site" with a 5th wheel.

We are good about doing a thorough walk-thru before we depart. I did lose four 5 gallon fuel containers one day that flew off my the rear storage rack on my camper's bumper. My wife was in another vehicle towing our ATVs and was about 1/2 mile back to avoid my dust trail and stated she ran passed several fuel tanks that looked like ours when we arrived at our destination...never thought that they could be ours until it was too late.

Did pull out of our driveway once with slide extended. Antennas extended are a non issue as we removed ours when we got a new roof. We do have trouble forgetting to close all windows before departing which sucks if the windows can't be closed thereafter because frame bent from road vibration.

Oh well ! If we are honest with ourselves, it boils down to not if....but when it will happen to each of us. Stuff happens, life is short, get over it, move on and continue camping and having fun. Life is good.

Nice solid heavy poker for seven bucks from Amazon. Bought one for the camper another for the backyard. At seven dollars delivered I honestly do not know how they make money on this.
