You can buy the milk crates on Amazon. For SOME reason, the brown ones are cheaper! I have about 6 of 'em. A 20 or 30 lb propane tank also fits perfectly into one. They have many uses. DO NOT steal one!
If I am traveling, it makes no difference. The cord is the VERY FIRST thing I do, before unhooking, so if it's laying in back of truck, it comes out and gets hooked up immediately, so why roll it up just to drive down the road? If I am breaking camp, I just throw it in back of truck on top of everything else, knowing it's going to come out immediately when I get to destination.
BUT.......I do have an extension cord (it's needed to reach the plug at our farm) and I use the cord reel like the post TonyShope made.
I also have another short, 15' extension cord I use 90% of the time. Most new campgrounds have the pedestal in the middle now, so a 36' cord is just a pile of "in the way". I got a 15' extension cord, and a 3 foot 50-to-50 adapter, and don't even use the big anaconda. I guess I use an Anaconda Baby. LOL
