mouse in the AC ducting

I found debris on my bed so I knew I had a mouse or mice in the overhead AC ducting. I pulled the vent defusers and looked in with a mechanics mirror but saw only some some droppings. I made little platforms to hold snap traps just below the duct work. As it turned out I got him last night by the right shoulder he/she fell on the floor and made it out to the living room and under the hide-a-bed dragging the trap along. I pulled all the other defusers and inspected the ducting just in case. It came in by an area I can't reach where the vent stack goes up thru the ducting and FR ran electrical wires from below up the stack. I fashioned my platforms out of cardboard and coat hangers. Small note to pull the defusers it takes a small screwdriver and allot of pressure to snap the center section out. I reset the traps just in case. the pics are the left and right AC outlets in the bedroom of my FR26FKWS Sorry pics sideways not sure how to correct this

Wow, it sounds like you had quite the unintentional adventure there. Now that you’ve gotten the mouse that was causing you issues out of there, do you have advice for those of us who are trying to prevent this from happening in our RV’s? I don’t really want to have to go into my AC ducts to get one of those little buggers out of there.

Actually I'm going out to the ranch this morning and I'm going to pull all the coroplast off the bottom of the trailer and seal any holes (like where the wiring goes up the vent pipe) that might allow a critter to get in.

That's the first I've heard of a mouse being in the AC duct. My concern would be how did he get in there? Did he chew his way into there? If so, what is the condition of the duct? You may now be blowing conditioned air into the attic and have reduced efficiency of your AC system.

That said, mice do not like the smell of peppermint and spearmint. Once there, the oder will not drive them out. It will only keep them out when they are looking for a place to inhabit. You can buy bottles of peppermint oil and place a few drops on cotton balls. Leave them in areas where the mice could get in. You'll have to renew the drops every couple of weeks.

Did you say "Mouse"? I like Mouse.

(This is a 22# Maine Coon that has had plenty of "Mouse Meals". Just wish it would stop feeling like it has to "share", bringing half of the catch home as a "present".)
