Murphy Beds: How to keep pillows from falling down crack?

So my first time using the Murphy bed, only one small irritation: My pillows keep falling into gap between head of bed and forward bulkhead. For that reason, you can't push pillows up against forward wall, like a headboard, to sit up to read or watch TV.

What solutions have ye found to correct this vexing issue?

We needed to plug the crack in our 2503S to keep our cats from getting down in there. We bought three "wedge" pillows and pushed them down into the crack (had to cut one of them as it is not quite three pillows wide). The bad still closes fine. The pillows do tend to rise up some when we lower the bed, but we just shove them back down.

And where would one find these 'wedge' pillows? Sounds like a good plan.

I purchased mine on Amazon, but have also seen them at Costco. Birdbath and Beyond may also carry them. They come in different dimensions, so measure first then order/purchase.

Odd. Our Geo Pro 2018 came with straps that hold the pillows in place. Were they removed in 2019?

I use two of these in addition to the straps.

We just move the pillows down about a foot from the head. I don't know what they do when we close the bed but they are in the same place when we pull the bed down.

If I understand the OP's question correctly, he is not asking about storing the pillows when the bed is raised, but keeping them from sliding off when he is sleeping on them or trying to use them as a backrest.

I'm not sure where we originally bought our wedge pillows as we have had them several years, but I think I have seen them in the bedding department at Walmart.

Search "wedge pillow" on Amazon, and it will bring up a bunch of different size and shape variations.

You get it Woodlark! At first I was like whaaaaaaat?? These people are leaving the straps on the bed when they sleep?? That would be...wait a minute. I should have made my post clear I was talking about when bed was folded down.

We just use one of those "body pillows". Tuck it down into the gap under the pillows, no problem.

Kris, I went to work right away on this issue. Not only did the pillows want to drift into the opening between the bed and wall, but seemed like wasted space that could be used to "elongate" the bed.

Here's my solution in pics.

One more pic...

Note: it is nice to be able to sit up against the wall while reading/watching TV, but if too much weight is on the head of the bed, it will want to start rocking downwards to Murphy-land Fortunately, the latch catches the bed, but it's startling at first.

It was hard to find one long pillow in the right dimensions, but I found them in shorter lengths. Also easier to manage a pair of them.

BTW, nothing is screwed into the front wall...didn't want to go there. Instead, I made jegg holes in the ends of the bottom wood and screwed into side-stand wood framing. Worked out better than expected.

JP, that hinged solution you manufactured is pretty slick. I contemplated a similar design, but never put it into action because the body pillow seemed to work. But it was my plan b option. Though I dont believe I have the carpentry skills to execute the plan in reality as well as it was imagined in my head. You seem to have executed the design flawlessly. (side note, I believe the murphy beds should come with a warning of some sort to not put all of your weight against the wall at the "head" end of the bed, lol, or you will disappear like a magician)

Thanks, but I have to give credit to another forum member and actual carpenter, Denny B. He did a far more elaborate job, but gave me enough ideas to do a smaller job within my limited skills. He also did something similar to fill the gap between the couch and the stowed Murphy bed. He had a larger trailer than ours.
