Nasty awning

OUR AWNING ON OUR TRAILER IS TOTALLY CLEAN ON TOP.
BUT THE UNDERNEATH IS FULL OF NASTY SECTIONS THAT SEEM
LIKE SQUASHED BUG GUTS. NO CLEANER HAS EVEN COME CLOSE TO WORKING. ANY SUGGESTIONS? THE WHOLE TRAILER IS ONLY A YEAR OLD.

Have you tried spraying it with Tilex Mold & Mildew, rolling it up for a few minutes then unrolling and scrubbing it with a brush? That's how I keep mine clean and bright.

I use stuff called EXITS, it removes black marks and bugs off of the the front of the camper after towing. I use it on the awning as well. I open the awning and hose down the awning on both sides, then I spray down the awning with EXITS and roll it back up. I wash the entire camper then I go back and open the awning and use a soft brush on both sides then hose it off. I use the EXITS in full strength. This a producted that I buy from my local RV dealer.

I bought a used 27 DFWP Wolfpack and when I unrolled the awning for the first time, it smelled like a wet dog.

I sprayed it with TileEx and rolled it backup. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then sprayed the nasty spots with Simple Green. Scrubbed it with soapy water and my soft roof brush and it looks as good as new and no longer smells like a wet dog. It probably would have been easier if it was hot outside - I did this a couple of weeks before Christmas and it was only about 45 degrees.

Just like Howie Bedell I have a awning that underneath it looks like squashed bugs. I tried scrubbing it with a mild detergent and nothing still looks bad. I'll try the Tilex approach and hopefully the stains will come out. Thanks for the suggestions.

You can use tilex or just put some clorox in your wash water.
Sop it on there and let it sit a while before scrubbing and rinsing.
Do be careful and wear old clothes and maybe a big brim hat.
You could wind up with bleached spots on YOU.

I used the formula that A&E suggests (dish soap, bleach and water). Poured it on and rolled up the awning for 10 minutes and wala! NOTHING! Didn't do zilch! scrubbed like crazy and couldn't get the stains out. Ours in only a year old too and the only thing that worked last time was one of the awning cleaners that I picked up at Camping World. Wished I could remember the name of the stuff.

I will have to try the Tilex though and see what happens.

I believe the tilex mildew remover will work fine but so does
clorox. I use about a cup of it in a half bucket of water with
plenty of simple green.
I'm guessing the A&E formula contained less bleach.

We used dry oxyclean right on a soft bristle brush, so it was slightly abrasive. Then we rinsed with a bucket of warm soapy water. Came out looking great.

Just did mine this week end. I used Tilex Mildew and it was almost miraculous, spray on, wait, light brushing and rinse.

The week before I had bought some "specialized stuff" from the local dealer at 3 times the price of the Tilex and it did almost nothing nothing.

we sell a product called mean green at the auto parts store that i work at and it works great i put it in my pump sprayer wet down the underside of the awning then spray about 1/2 the awningdown with mean green let it sit for a few min then lightly scub with soft bristle brush then rince and allow to dry completly beforerolling up

Clorox Clean-up...comes in a spray bottle, probably about the same as Tilex.

We have used a product called Gordon Feron's All For 1 cleaner on patio umbrellas, our old pop up tent top, patio furniture. Just spray it on full strength and use a scrub brush then rinse well. Worked really well on the pop up. Haven't tried it on the TT awning yet but bet it works the same!

The tilex and mean green sound like a good idea but will it fade the colored parts of the awning?

Wet awning down, apply Tilex, scrub with long handle soft bristle brush, roll awning up for 5 -10 minutes, open awning and spray off.

I've been using Tilex for years with great results. Just be sure you rinse well.

Does the bleach and soap detergent streak the sides of Camper?

Magic Eraser. Works incredibly well on ANY type of textured surface. They are amazing.

For those real bad spots I also use the MR Clean Magic Eraser foam scrub pads.

TILEX is the way to go. Its' the only thing I have found that is cheap and works great. Spray it on a damp awning, top and bottom, roll it up and let it sit for about 5 min.
