Yes, this does preclude a prolonged deployment with screens, lights, etc...where a manual awning may make more sense.

So, I suggest one's preference is based upon intended use.

And I absolutely love my power awning.
We leave our power awning out 24-7 for 3 months every year in FL. Never take it in with our poles. I tilt one end for rain run off and leave it out. What good is an awning if you have to put it in when it rains.

Can a new RV be ordered with a manual awning instead of a power one?

I leave ours out for 5 or 6 months, providing I have the add-a- room on. It has been out in some mean storms. I would not leave it out alone unintended. When you see the inside bulging it is not good. IMO.

Agreed...I leave mine out in the rain...but not in severe stormy rain or high windy rain or overnight rain. Just my preference to play it conservatively and retract when I'm not using it...otherwise, it is deployed.

Glad you feel comfortable keeping yours deployed 24/7...it looks very inviting!

It worked for me. Here is the URL of the link (it is the mobile link):

http://m.campingworld.com/category/rv-awnings/363

Otherwise just use www.campingworld.com and search awning.

I would avoid Dometic power awnings. Mine is on a 1.5 year old camper that was used a total of ~25 nights and the motor, which worked fine when the camper was winterized, now will not work. My research seems to show it is a common problem with a expensive fix!

I ordered and replaced 2 of these last month on two 5th wheel coaches. Mine is a 19' and the other one I did was on a 20' awning. I am happy with the fabric so far. As stated, I really couldn't beat the price. You will want 2 if not 3 people to do the swap. I left the old one wrapped up and removed the whole thing at once. There's a pretty good YouTube video on the process. I'll post the link when I find it.
I went with grey in color for both. The other owner was pleased.

Also, the rivets should be 3/16". Take pics and mark the tube which grooves the fabric goes. Go slow when installing the new fabric to the tube. Use a blunt object to push it into the groove while someone pushes the retainer in from the end. I also prelubed the groove with silicone spray.
After it's installed and wrapped on the tube you'll be ready to slide it in the track. This is where I used a third person either on a ladder or on the roof. They guided it in the groove at the roof line while two other people support the awning and walk it down the side of the rv as it slides in the track.
Don't forget to seal the lag screws at the roof line mounts.
That's all I can think of right now. Enjoy!

Oh and a little humor. No where did I find this tip so here it is, just for you.
Check the weather. That week I did these two we had 30-40 mph winds and a little rain. Yeah I know, I just never gave it thought.
Good Luck!
