Need suggestions for battery box strap
I'm looking for ideas for a replacement for my battery
box strap. It's the kind you find at Wally World in the boat
section. The strap is woven poly sort of like the lawn chairs
of old if you remember them. It held for nearly 5 years but
has given up to the rigors of the sun.
I have a bungee cord on there now but bungee doesn't
age well in the elements. I even considered going to
a junk yard and cutting the seat belt out of a scrap car
and sewing myself a new strap. Junk yards are miles away
and so if you have a better idea for a replacement strap,
I'd like to hear it!
Thanks!!

Have a look at motorcycle strap downs. They look much like seat belts, but not quite as wide. The same straps are used for towing as well and usually have a S hook on both ends. They don't cost much and are long enough to use in pieces for years to come.

In the immortal words of Homer Simpson-- "DOH!!" Would you believe
that I HAD 4 cut off ends from my motorcycle ratchet tie downs.
I kept the long cut off ends 4 years until last month when I was
cleaning out my truck in prep for our western states trip.
I tossed them thinking after 4 years if I hadn't needed them, they
were excess baggage.
ARGH!!
EVERY time I toss some gadget or gizmo that I've saved for a rainy day, it RAINS!!
Maybe time for some new ratchet tie downs as mine are getting
kinda tough to release.....
Thanks!

After mine wore out, I replaced it with one of those luggage straps from Walmart... the ones with the plastic snap-together catches... the ones you wrap around your suitcase if you're afraid it will pop open..

Another great idea.
Just talked to my wife. We had discussed tossing the straps but
she saved them!! So if I can rig some sort of belt buckle thing,
I'm set. If that fails, I'll go to Wallyworld and look for a luggage
strap.
I figured others had been down this road so that's why I asked.
Thanks to you all!

I use a small ratchet strap, works well and I know it is tight.

Small Black ratchet strap cut off the extra length and melt the end with lighter so doesn't unravel.

I thought of a ratchet strap but they RUST.
I went with the luggage strap from Walmart.
It has a large plastic buckle and should last a few years.
