Select a city you want to be near. Select an RV park that has things you want to do. Book your site ahead of time. Example the park we are in will be full until April, and it has 1500 spaces and about half is park models. The busy time here in Mesa is JAN - APR. Best of luck. Skip

The nice part about snowbirding is you don't have to take it all with you and there's always Walmart and Amazon to help you with anything you forget.

I own about 3-4 days worth of clothing for each season (warm-hot and cool). Just a couple of shoes (flip flops, sneakers, dress shoes, and a pair of water shoes) cover me for anything we're doing.

My wife and daughter have more, of course!

Paper and plastic are your friends if you don't want to do dishes.

And take your good knives.

Take some time to explore surrounding states too. They all have national parks within range of SoAz

We no longer full-time but when we did we liked to stay 3 to 5 weeks at each major destination (we once spend seven months slowly traveling across the USA).

We liked to find an RV park 10 to 15 miles outside whatever major city we were near. Not too far to drive into the city to explore, but far enough out not to be impacted by city traffic and easy to explore the country-side.

Buy a pickleball paddle and jump into the fun! Enjoy in any case...shorts, flip flops and big brimmed hats & sunscreen are all you really need!

Don’t count on the park’s wifi. Be sure you have a good cell plan.

Hi!
Check the weather en route. We forgot winter boots and a SHOVEL and were storm stayed for 2 days in SD!!
Find RV Parks along the way that are OPEN! We plan to stay in motels until we pass the snow line, theoretically, but were fooled this trip, now in MO heading to FL!

From NW New Jersey, we ad miles but lessen our time on the road, by going to Harrisburg PA and getting on I81S. 1 night in Glen Maury RV Park, Buena Vista VA. Very reasonable and have never seen more than 4 or 5 units there!
81 S to I77S/I26S/I95S. Nice spot off 77 outside Charlotte NC @ McDowell Nature Preserve.
Third day you’re in Daytona!
Easy drive, no pressure. Try to leave when there’s NOT a nor’easter coming up though, ‘cause “going up theShenadoah Valley” can be bad...
Have fun!

We have been FL Snowbirds for 12 years. We camp in John Prince County Park in Lake Worth, FL. We arrive in mid October in order to get our favorite campsite site - 6 weeks after that, it's a crap shot what you can get, if any site at all. We drive home for the month of Dec. for Christmas with family and then drive back to our camper. One thing important to us is a 3 ring binder we call the "bible" that has all the important papers. Campgrounds during the travel down, fill up the ez-pass and sun-pass, all the bank account info, medical info and pills we take, our eye glass prescription, phone lists, anything that is important to you and your family that you can't be without. And there is always a Walmart near by!

Bring lots of tools. Full cordless power tool set, staple gun, dill bits, box of misc screws, bolts etc. Also don’t be afraid to ask for help doing things at rv parks. There’s always a few bored old guys who are glad to feel important and help you with whatever.
We always bring the titles for the truck and trailer too because you never know what may come up.

I would be more concerned with the house you are leaving for months. Guess you have to contract for snow removal. Leaving driveway snow covered would be a sure sign you are not home!

Also from NW Jersey and I was hoping to stop at Glen Maury on our way down to Great Smokies National park in April.
Only $17.50 per night with Passport America. Just not excited about first come first serve no reservations.
