We're new to the TT world and will be taking our first trip beginning April. We'll be traveling from KY to Gulf State park in Alabama. Is there anything we should pack that a person wouldn't normally think of? Thanks in advance.

First off, realize that as long as you have an ID and access to a bank account, whatever else you might forget won't be the end of the world.
Secondly, a fellow member has posted a list that really helps narrow down the 'first trip essentials' into an easy to understand list. You can find it here:
http://www.learntorv.com/2014/02/new...tials.html?m=1
Third, I'd recommend you start by camping close to home, or at even right at home (in the driveway). Then when you realize there's something you need it's easy to go get it.
Lastly, there's going to be a ton of suggestions from people on here for things you 'need'. For the most part their suggestions will be helpful, but remember it'll be up to you to decide if you actually 'need' it.
Last lastly, Welcome and happy camping!

What he said. There are a ton of "wants", but very few "needs".
If you're able- camp locally before your April trip.

The means to change a tire on the TT. Whether that be tools and a jack or the 800 number to roadside assistance. Everyone is a little different when it comes to needs. So definitely a practice run or two is in order.

To still have access to the tap. I use mine all the time to fill the dog's water bowl, bucket of water for the kid's to refill their water cannons, at one campground we used it to fill a cheap ($1.47 at Walmart kind of cheap) kiddie pool we bought, rinsing things off without having to use the outdoor shower, etc...

Paper towel, stationery: pens, pencils, sharpener, medium size notebook (that you can tear out pages for shopping lists), rain gear, two or three season clothes including foot wear, toiletries, medical ID cards, basic tool box, social media devices AND chargers. In time you'll be able to refine the list according to your personal needs and likes.

First aid kit, things to keep you occupied inside if it's rainy, zip ties, bungee cords, clothes pins or other clips, spices
I usually just raid the dollar store and get everything I think I'll want. It's cheap, so if you don't end up using it, not a big deal, but it's great if you do need it!

Welcome from Wisconsin. Add water pressure regulator and portable weather radio to the needs list.

Pen and paper, so you can write down the items that you did forget and for the items you now realize would be good to have.
Write them down, don't trust your memory, you forgot them once, you'll forget them again.
Newspaper and lighter stick, need a campfire.

One of these for when you need both hands free.
Got them at Costco for $10.
