Using ceramic tile in the oven.... any oven.

I would be very worried about using ceramic tile, unless it was actually rated for food use. Since their "real" purpose is to walk on and many originate outside of the United States, they may have contaminates such as lead and other chemicals, when heated can precipitate into your food.

Ditto Mike!!!

We are fused (kiln- fired) glass artists and have a strong background in ceramic kilns as well...we would NEVER use any glazed or unfinished tile in the oven for the reasons stated above. Lots of poison out there. Should have stated these concerns more clearly in my earlier post...and it's why I'm so PO'd at these manufacturers for not addressing this issue...they are well aware that users are trying a variety of home-made "remedies" in order to work a way around the fact that many ovens are, for the most part, cheaply made, inferior designs.

Sweet Wife and I are so strange, I guess we are completely out of step with the rest of the campground.

The oven gets used almost every day of every trip. Pizza, corn bread, biscuits, always something.

Our awning only gets put out in the yard to get the mildew off. Really. We seldom use the thing when we camp. Maybe there are enough trees to do the job?

About 10 bucks for a barbeque lighter @ WW. Takes about 30 minutes or so to mount it in the oven and finding a place on the stove front to mount the push button.

Cpaulsen...I'd be to scared that I would totally screw up that oven if I attempted something like that. Sounds like a good idea though

Doesn't Wala seem more right than Voila. Then I'm from the south so maybe that's why

Wonder if ceramic tiles that's used in gas grills would work.

Ok, so I get how using a pizza stone in the oven works by evening out the heat, but how does putting foil on the bottom of your pan work?...magic ?

We just put aluminum foil under our baking sheet and wrapping it up and over the edges.....works just great....no burnt bottom rolls or cookies.
