Outside Lights

I got the rope light installed under the trailer yesterday. Since the trailer is a rear kitchen model there is a gas line running all the way back. I took some zip ties and attached the rope light to it. I only need to plug it into an extension cord at the campground and I'm set up with outside lighting.

I checked them out last night and i thought they look pretty good. Lights up under the trailer and also around the perimeter with a soft light that shouldn't bother my camping neighbors.

How about a picture? That's a good idea I might try it.

I'll try to get one in the next few days. I tried last night, but the pics didn't turn out very well so I'll try it during the day, under the trailer so you can see how I mounted them.
I can't take credit for the idea. I believe it was a post by mtnguy that I first read about the rope lights under the trailer..

Here are the pics.

I did include one that I took at night, it's not very good. In the left/center of the pic you can make out the steps and the white tire covers behind them. It really looks a lot better than what the pic shows.

I also included 2 pics of the rope light mounted by zip ties on the gas line. You may need to come up with something different for your trailer. With a little imagination it shouldn't be hard.

I do need to find a way to cover the plug end so it won't get dirty or corroded in travel. Any suggestions?

Hope these show you what you needed to see.

Good luck and happy camping!

Just buy a cheap female plug at the hardware store and put a little silicone in where the wire would go. Plug the end of the rope light into the plug when travelling. Old Guys

OK, I gotta try this mod. Per chance, I have an extra string of rope lights in the basement.

mtnguy, I was thinking it was an old post of yours that I first read about this mod. Guess not.
I used the clear rope lights, but thinking about trying some blue ones.

I had posted a couple of times about using rope lights around waste tank drains during early spring and late fall camping to keep the pipes from freezing, but never thought to use the rope lights under the camper for accent lighting.

hhhhmmmm?...very interesting. I am a little confused. So the male plus end of the rope lights..it IS still attached to the rope light string? and you just zip ties it up to the frame also? Then when you park you just plug them into an extention cord?

he is using a cut end from a cord to protect the plug while they are in travel and pull the old cord end off and then plug the lights into an exension cord.
the lights do not get hot enough to worry about catching fire.

Yeah, that's pretty much it except I have a rear kitchen model so there is a gas line running the length of the tt. I used zip ties to attach the rope lights to the gas line.
As sherdep mentioned, I used the female end off an old cord to use during storage and travel so that the male end on the rope lights doesn't get dirty or corroded.
