Pine Sap - Any tried and true removal methods

Any successful solutions on safely removing Pine Sap from various surfaces
Clear coat, Gel Coat, Awnings, canvas?

Motsenbocker's Lift Off #2 does a great job on removing sap. Also excellent on removing label adhesive.
I've bought it at Home Depot and Amazon

I've had good luck with mineral spirits but I wouldn't use it on a rubber roof.
