Plexiglas (acrylic) isn't particularly strong and shatters fairly easily. A better choice would be a polycarbonate ( brand name escapes me), which is much more damage tolerant.

I think Lexan is the brand name. I honestly chucked a piece of acrylic around the Home Depot aisle to see if it would break. It didn't.

I figured with what I'm using it for (keeping junior from falling out of the screen), I figure it's "good enough".

We put it on both upper and lower areas of the screen door. Makes a great "storm door" keeps the heat out yet lets in the light. Take off the plexy glass and you can get the breezes that are blowing.

Same here....made it for my door in 3 sections to be able to remove whatever one I wanted for air.
