Post winterization problem

After our first year with our new trailer (2806 WS Rockford ultra lite) I had the trailer winterized by an authorized dealer. On our first trip I found the hot/cold drain plugs located outside and the anode plug were not reinstalled. With some effort I reinstalled the anode plug (new). Reconnecting the plastic drain plug with teflon was very difficult. I am concerned the H/C drain plugs need to be redone. Is there a easier way to connect the plastic stopper with the line. Tony

Often times the caps on the low point drains are pipe thread caps with a supply line tapered washer in them.
No Teflon tape needed and often finger tight is tight enough.

If yours are plugs then maybe but without a photo we can't say for sure.
Even the ones I've seen with plugs had a supply line fitting on the line sticking down with a tapered washer inside and the plug screwed up against it.

get a few barbed fitting shut offs and some hose clamps and add shut offs.

I wonder if the plug was not reinstalled. I didn't see any teflon remnants. It seems cold water line was correctly reinstalled.The hot water drain line is the problem. I tried best I could to tape with teflon..still drips. Thanks Tony

If you shut off the low point H/C drain valves why do you need to seal the end caps? The caps are there just to keep debris and mud dobbers/insects from building nests in the tubes and plugging them up.

It's hard to tell in the pic, but the hot water cap looks cracked. That would be a problem any amount of torque and tape could not solve.

Where do I find the low point H/C drain valves... are they inside the rv? Thanks, Tony

Not all units have valves. Most trailers only have a cap on the end. Any RV supply should have the rubber insert and the cap.

But, just in case. What is just above the underbelly in the pic you showed where the drain lines come through?

Drain plug seem to be closest to refrigerator...

More R/Vs DON'T have valves than than those that do. Just lines and caps. That's why there are an abundance of posts about adding aftermarket valves to the lines that stick out the bottom.

For the OP... you could have a cracked cap (you dont have plugs per the picture you posted) or you may have lost the tapered washer. Again, those caps don't seal on the threads so Teflon tape isn't needed and shouldn't be used. They seal via the tapered washer and don't need excessive tightening.

Many of us have changed out the caps for valves.
Here's mine...

i second what 5picker said. there should be a plastic washer inside the caps. one time i had a cap that was leaking. it turns out the washer on one drain stayed on the fitting and the other one came off in the cap. when i put them on i ended up with both washers on one fitting / cap and none on the other fitting / cap. once i took them off again and looked i reinstalled them properly and no more leaks
