Putting Slides in when raining
Hello all - it has been alittle while since I've been on. Hello and safe travels this season.
We are getting ready to head out for our first trip of the season. I have a question I never really worried with on my previous TT because it only had 1 slide.
But now I have 3... What do you do when putting slides in during the rain. How to you try to get as much water off as possible before the slide goes in? We do have slide covers.
Do you use a squeegee... Would appreciate any tips.

If you have slide toppers then the amount of water will not be noticed.

slide them in with a few junk towels laying around to soak up any access water. your slides should be triple seal with sweep type seals. most access should come off on the way in especially with toppers.

Most of the time I will nose the camper up or down a little and pause the slide when retracting to give the water a chance to run off. If it's not raining I use a cordless blower to blow the water off.

With slide toppers, we've always just ran the slides in with no thought to the water on top. Just today they were heavy with water and it ran off the slide as we retracted them.

Same here, we have always just ran the slides in and never seen any water inside.

Plus you will notice that when the slides start, the bottom comes in first for an inch. Leaves the top of the slide at an angle tilting out. Water will tend to drain towards the wall. Then the seals sweep the water out. You may notice a little water on the sides inside. A rag will sop that up in a jiffy.

cordless blower
I always carry a battery operated blower to blow off the slide tops. Weather it be leaves, pine needles, water. I like to slide tops cleared off before retracting. And the blower comes in handy to blow off tables, patio slabs.

Absolutely nothing. The amount of water is very minimal. I have never seen any water.

I agree, very minimal just pull the slides in when you leave .
Good idea about tilting trailer before hooking up. I tilt the trailer to get the cycles before hooking up , any rain water left on the slide is minimal.

We have been full timing for 2 years, in all sorts of weather. We have slide toppers on our 3 slides. Since the toppers roll "outward" we have no problem with water and debris (leaves, small tree sticks) rolling off as we retract. Periodically I check the slide tops when they are in, and have never found water or junk on them.

We never put slides in due to rain. No issues so far in 7 years.

Same here, as far as just pulling slides in. We camped this past weekend and it rained all weekend and when we pulled the slides in the rubber seals seemed to work very well as a squeegee because as it was going in the water was pouring off the sides of the slides. Once we get home we usually open everything back up to dry everything out. I think more important than worrying about very minimal water from slides is having a good dehumidifier or at least having some of those Damrid's out.
