Removing Caulk film

Last year I had to have a window replaced. Since it was under warranty, I had a well known RV place do the work. My extended warranty provider recommended this place. Long story short they did a terrible job sealing the outside of the window. Apparently they used a sponge to smooth out the caulking. I did not notice it at the time of the repair, but now I have a thin, dried on film of caulk about 3" wide around the window frame which very off color. I asked for help from the RV place that did the work, but they were not much help. Even claimed they did not cause the problem. So, besides a lot of elbow grease, any other ideas on how to remove this film? My may concern is not damaging the TT's white skin paint. Thanks in advance.

We use Heptane, which is a solvent available at home repair stores.

VinceU had the best answer. That "Awesome" stuff did the trick right away. Afterwards I even used it on my windshields. Inside and out. Quickest working stuff I ever used. Thanks for that answer.

Awesome can also remove the shine off an RV. May require wax and elbow grease to get the shine back.

WD-40
It also is great for removing bumper stickers as well as glues.
Let it soak and wipe off.

Tried that to remove some packing tape glue residue, it did not work.
Ended up using denatured alcohol.

Be careful with awesome especially on plastic parts. You can buy it dilluted or in the concentrated form. I used it to remove some stickers from our new refrigerator and it started to melt the side wall. My wife almost killed me. Then I looked at the bottle and it was the concentrated form of awesome.

I was not sure what the long term effect might be, so after I removed the film , I washed the area with soapy water, and rinsed it off. I do this a lot when cleaning stuff with chemicals, or unknown mixtures. I just used it yesterday to remove that blue film you get on the inside of your windshield. It did the job really well.
