Running lights as extra light at camp site

I too like to have the running lights on in the evenings, so I had to replace the 7 pole plug on the truck a few years ago, so I kept the old one and jumped the correct terminals in the plug. Now I just plug that into the trailer plug and the running lights on the camper come on. Just unplug it to turn them off. And I store that plug in one of the compartments in the camper where I keep extension cords and other items needed to hook the camper up.

This sounds like a really neat mod...electricity is not one of my better subjects, so this may take me awhile to figure out..The last post seem to make it sound a whole lot easier...Tomorrow I will get what I need to make this work...especially in the driveway..the neighbors will love it..

I prefer the light from my campfire, and we usually boondock so electricity is a premium.

I have done this. I used to do the jumper wire thing on my trailer plug, but last year I installed some switches near the entrance door so we can turn on the lights. I also hooked up power to the reverse lights on the trailer as well to provide extra light for whatever, if the need arises. I am always mindful of the neighbours when I turn the lights on, especially since we camp where there are no other lights. Honestly, I think it looks great when the trailer is all lit up, and since I installed LED lights all around, power consumption is not a huge issue.

If you can find an old style "can" turn signal flasher with the two spade terminals you can really liven up the campground. The two spades fit the 7 way socket perfectly and tie the running lights to power.

The fuse (or flasher unit) goes between the ground and the running lights.

Either your marker lights are not working, or you are jumping between the battery charge and the brake/signal light prongs.

On Lou's pictures, you need to jump between the prongs at 11 and 1 o'clock.

Lou, I think that should be between the battery charge and running lights.
