Its great catching up on the forums, this will be my first de-winterization (if this blizzard ever quits). I was looking on line and after I flush out the RV-Winterization fluid, I seen this sanitizing solution that you flush into your FW tank and lines, then drain out. Is it a waste of money where as bleach can do the same thing. Or should I purchase the tank sanitizer and just keep flushing my lines afterwards? I am a noob at this. My first RV (Sunseeker 2900) and I don't want to ruin it. Thank you all!

Use bleach.
1 cup per 30 gallons.

So I'm going a bit stronger than they say here, like I said, I tend to use half a gallon per 20ish gallons of water, so I'm at about a 1:40 ratio. Do I want to disinfect the system? Yep, only reason to do it, correct?

My local Health Department says to use 2 oz. of bleach for every gallon of water to make a "sanitizing solution" for a spray bottle.
http://www.durham.ca/departments/hea...y/duhev260.pdf

The recommended 1 cup (8 oz.) for 30 gallons is no where near that strength but I realize I'm not trying to mix a spray on sanitizing solution. I'm probably using something like 1.5 to 2 cups of bleach for my 30 gallon tank - just enough that I can smell it coming out of the taps.

All that being said, I think I'll check with our IPEX rep to see if my stronger solution would damage the plastic water pipes in an RV.
