RV Awning Protection Covers

does anyone use an awning cover when the awning is rolled up and your RV is in storage or going down the road? are they worth it? any problems? i hope it won't fly off going down the highway! that'd be throwing a $100 out the window! i searched the forum so this post wouldn't be a duplicate. if this is a duplicate post, my apologies

My Silverback came with the awning cover already installed. So far I love the way it keeps the awning clean when rolled up, and haven’t had any issues with it during travel.

i found some online. i presume your cover is white or opaque white so as to block the UV rays from destroying the material/fabric. is that the case?

Yes, as you can see in the photo it is white. My trailer is at the storage lot so this was the best I could do for a photo of it.

Thanks for the picture. I was wondering how it would work and it looks like it acts the same way as the window awning I just had installed. I like the concept for sure but price is a big factor. Does it really keep the awning material cleaner?

So far it has kept the awning spotless. Keep in mind that I just picked the Silverback up this past March. You can see in the photo below how the cover lays on the awning when it's extended.

yes thank you. i didn't know they had a roll up design, i thought it was a pop on pop off set up/removeable.

I had an awning cover on my old fifth wheel. My new one is a Crusader bunkhouse and I can not find the awning protector for my new one, any suggestions?

I saw an ad for them on the back pages of Trailer magazine. It looked like a very flexable piece of PVC type material with a large slot in it that would let you slip it over the rolled up awning. I just couldn't figure out how I would get it on and off without carrying a ladder. The ad did not give any info on prices. I found this at Dyers:

The one pictured here is corrugated sheet metal and painted. Its very rugged when accidental rubbing against tree branches, besides sun protection. Thing is I've only ever seen them offered with new purchase of an awning. You can buy with or without, its adds quite a bit to the price. Never seen them as retrofit, not sure how they are attached, maybe rivited to the stationary awning anchor. The plastic sleeve one doesn't look terribly practical.

Not really, they sew in two bulb seams in the awning the metal guard slips over. Similar to the main awning to the roof connection.
Upper right in pic shows guard overlap.

just bought a new 38ft travel trailer and looking for awwning protection but a product called awning pro is over 150.00 and looks to time consumeing. where could i look for the type bob&joyce have?

I believe that is part of the package for that model awning. Dometic or A&E awnings (#8500) have a fabric weather shield while the #9000 and #9100 models have the metal weather shield.
If you didn't get a metal with your awning it will have to be one of the after market ideas already posted.

You are approaching the cost of a replacement awning fabric, that can be purchased with the alumaguard. The replacement fabric for the 8500 series (which does not have alumaguard) can be ordered with alumaguard.
