rv clothes hangers?

we have a closet in our rv to hang clothes on. we went to hang some clothes and found out the closet depth is only about 15" and the standard wire clothes hanger is about 17". does anybody know where you can get shorter hangers?

We use the felt covered hangers from Costco or other retailers, they are flat and take less space and if careful can get twice as many shirts in the closet too!

Got the ones that swivel, just hang it up and then push/twist to one side.

You may wish to use children's hangers. Those tend to be shorter than full size adult hangers. You can pick them up pretty cheaply at any dept. store.

We encountered the same issue with our (Coat closet)? I was able to (Dismantle/Remove) the Coat Closet and make the wall (4" wider) and allow the Bath door to still clear! Now we can place Coats inside on Regular (Coat Hangers)! Youroo!!

Hangers

The hangers from the dollar stores seem to be a bit thinner where you hang and work well.I did try the kids ones but found many of my tops slid off if they have any opening at neck at all.I use a lot of packing cubes for my tops and find it works well and if I want to take into house it is easy.
Good luck!

Whatever advice you take from everyone's input on hanger models/styles, I suggest you go with hangers that have a metal "hook" part. After getting tired of opening my closet and finding all my hangered clothes in a heap, I switched to either all-metal or wood hangers with a metal hook section. The trick then is to squeeze the hook (using pliers, sometimes fingers) tightly around the closet rod, thus ending the mysterious clothing pile.

Our previous TT had shirt closets on each side of the bed on the rear wall. Tried several ideas and nothing kept the "heap" from happening, I just used a spring refrigerator bar across the top over the hanger rod. Before traveling, just attached the spring bar, no more heap!

A thought I had looking at one of these types of closets the other day... the closet was tapered and if the rod was lowered into the wider portion of the closet... then one could put a shelf over the rod... and one could make a flip down "lock" to keep hangers from bouncing off the rod...

It is not an RV, it is a project vehicle :beers:

We use Lynx Stay-Put hangers. They simply snap onto the wardrobe pole, and they're a little shorter to fit smaller spaces. No amount of bouncing can shake them off. Here's the CW link:

I just moved my hanger rod further back in closet. Normal hangers fit fine now.

Our closets are 16" deep. I added 3/4 in spacer to front then remounted doors. Also use refrigerator spring bars to keep sleeves in at latch point.
