storage of sway control bars

I just put them in the bed of my truck.

After see what someone else did, I made a box that holds all of my WDH pieces for easy access when I do need them. No more grease either.

I have a set up like rockfordroo. Took a piece of 3"? PVC, painted it black and strapped it on the tongue right in front of the trailer. Since our rock guard on the tt is black most people don't even see it there. The bars slide in (one on each side), it's almost the same height as the bars are when set up so very little lifting, just swing around and slide bar into PVC, put on end cap. Out of sight, out of the weather, not in the dirt or taking up space in my pass thru. they always go there so we know exactly where they are. easy peasy.

I bought a 36" tray to catch water from a long flower box. My bars fit nicely in it and keeps the grease off of items in the storage compartment.

I like this idea. I'm going to make one for my front compartment which does not have a factory slide tray. Krushad made a two level slideout tray. Bottom is the perfect place for the bars etc...

I saw your setup in Trailerlife magazine and remembered your post. I'm curious, and couldn't figure it out from your pictures. What did you do to connect the open ends of the u bolts so they couldn't be removed from the frame? Just a piece of flat metal bolted over them? Or is the pipe strap long enough to connect to both sides?

What I used is the flat piece of metal that comes with the U-bolt. I put that on first and then on the outside side of the U-bolt I added a washer and the pipe strap and another lock washer and the nut. The picture is a shot head-on to the trailer frame so you can see the metal piece and the strap. I tightened the bolts so the metal bent just a bit so the pipe straps wouldn't move. Hope this helps.

By the way, the two hex nuts on the frame that the U-bolt is going between are leftovers from an old sway control I removed and have nothing at all to do with the set-up. They are just keeping those holes in the frame filled so water doesn't get in. The Equalizer hitch didn't need them when it was installed.

Brother-in-law lost his. Laying across A-frame. Also lost his power cord and so did 12 other units that night. Scrappers went around cutting the cords off the Trailers and any bars laying around. They caught them the next day...as the idiots were STAYING IN THE CAMPGROUND.

I know this is a late response but, I use Ziploc baggies for the greasy part of the bars and put into a underbed bin that fits through the storage opening. The baggies hard comes off due to the grease, still using the original baggies since 2013. But I like the idea of the old rifle case as mentioned above.
