stowage help and ideas needed!

Just got our new TT yesterday and today is 'moving day' - i'm moving over what we want from our popup.
In there we had plastic tubs/bins to hold things. It was handy to keep things organized, the water hose dripped in the bin and not all over everything, the chocks and blocks kept their dirt in their bin, etc.

OK, the bins are too tall to fit in any of the access doors on our trailer.

What ideas/solutions are out there?

There are three storage areas, two carpeted (one under a sofa and not very good access) and one larger one over a the vinyl floor. I really don't want to loosely put stuff in there and then after 100 miles find out the first thing I need has migrated 4' deep into the back of the storage area

I use storage boxes similar to these and place them in the back of the truck.

Great for the kind of stuff you mention and make good end tables for under the awning. Also, I've been known to stack two of them, put a piece of plywood on top and use them as a portable grill stand.

Haven't seen those. We have what on that page in a small pic is called a 'brute tote' and will likely still use one or two for food or kids toys - using them as end tables is a good idea.

Wander around Walmart or your other favorite place that carries plastic storage containers. There are shapes & sizes for about every configuration. You'll find something that will fit in your storage compartment. We did for our Roo.

I also have the smallest bay doors so I can relate. When searching for storage containers I think if I stick to just under 12x15 it will fit but I need to recheck the measurements.

How about using duffle bags for selected items? I have a patio mat bag from CW that hold selected items and is flexable going through the door. Cost $12.

I know this is an old thread, but someone may get some use out of it... We do not have a pass-thru compartment. We can only get to things from one side, but the compartment is under the bed and reaches all the way across. We got some plastic under-bed containers at Walmart and they fit thru the door just fine. I can stack 2 of them under the bed once they are thru the door. I also modified my bed frame so that I could lift part of it to get under the bed. We use a lot of plastic storage bins!

How did you modified the bed frame? Do you have any pics that you can post?

I don't have any handy, but I can upload some in a few days... Basically, I took off one of the 4x8 particle boards on top so that I could see the framing joists. On my camper the joists were 2x2's that were 2 feet apart. I split the 4x8 particle board along the side where one of the joist were. This way both sides of the split rested on the joist for support. I cut the board on the back about 3 feet back because that was at the edge of a nearby cabinet. Then I install a hinge along the back side. Then I secured the 4x8 sheet back onto the framing. I even installed a prop to hold it all up when I am getting into the storage area. The mattress doesn't weigh a lot, but it frees my hands. The dimensions are dependent on your situation.
