Hi all,

I just purchase a TT for the first time (prime time) lacrosse. I had googled to find a list of the must have for items needed and created my own list which we stocked this weekend. What I was wondering is has anyone created a "must have" list? I am thinking of those things where if you don't have it you would make for a miserable trip. Blankets, dishes, cups, grill are normal and you can get anywhere, so I am thinking more along this list below and things that need for a spare or that could be hard to find. Something that could be a quick fix if you have tool or part? Most common thing that would fail or break?

I carry a small "Home Repair" tool kit. Something like what you see at wally world. Electrical tape, duct tape, fuses and so forth are also usuful items to have on hand. I don't plan on doing any major work while camping.

I also have a tool box on my truck. The tool box contains tools like normal automotive tools and also tools I can use on my hitch.

What if you have a flat? Breaker bar and jack/jacking device.

by all means and make sure u can actually remove the lug nuts before u leave home. i thought i could sense i could check them for tight. first time i had to remove a tire, the wrench was slightly too big and i spun the decorative cap instead of the nut.

i always had the dog on the list but she would make sure she wasn't left.

Herk - This may not come out right so please bear with me. Why such a detailed list for a seasoned RVer? Is it really a checklist that you use for every trip before hitting the road?

Anyway there were many good suggestions for items to have on hand.

All good pilots follow the checklist before EVERY take off. All GREAT pilots, follow it twice.

Herk, do I need to add anything?

Fellow aviator, but on a smaller scale with more limited budget.

While I can't honestly say I run that checklist before every weekend camping trip, I do run it before we snowbird to Florida or trek to the west coast.

That way I refresh myself on where I stashed stuff and remind myself to check on lots of "can't easy find" things like Calgon Water Softener and Roof Sealant. Also I may not be around to tell the DW where I put stuff either.

Additionally, It has step by step instructions my DW can follow if I am "out of action" and she needs to bring it home alone for some reason. (Had to fly home for an emergency or GFB I got hurt).

I also remove anything that has not been touched or eaten for the camping season. I exclude "some" emergency tools from consideration (like the tire changing stuff and spare fuses and lights), but I have lightened my load considerably by removing the Radial Arm Saw and Milling Machine. (JK) .

May need to return this trailer for a bigger one, oh yeah and a 3/4 ton tow vehicle.

We keep a camping list word.doc on our PC desktop.
Before any trip we print the list and lay it on the kitchen counter.
Items that are packed or not needed are marked thru.
When we walk out the door to leave the list must be completely crossed out.

It contains some food items and menu selections as well as what to pack.
Pots, pans, dishes, holding tank chemicals, TP are normally left in the trailer.
Tools including lug wrench remain in the TT or truck so they are not listed.

The list also reminds us to shut off things at home-- washing machine water,
hot water heater, turn thermostat up or down depending on the time of year.

The list is edited from time to time but always used!

We also have a pocket size notebook in the TT.
Any non listed supply or item that needs fixing, re-stocking etc. is noted
for next trip.

Thanks for sharing. I was just amazed at how detailed the list was (53 pages) but more so thinking that you check every item every time. From the start I could see where the listing could in handy for others to locate items. My camping style is different since I camp solo and so far only at places with hook ups.
