Question The Geo Method

We are heading out this week and want to use the GEO method on the first leg of the trip to start things out clean. Once we reach our first stop can we then put the normal RV Trine in without dumping and fill the black tank until it needs to be emptied or will the RV Trine and GEO chemically react so that nothing works as it should?

The only thing I would look out for is if the rv trine has formaldehyde and you use any bleach, otherwise you should be fine. Bleach and formaldehyde mixed can create a very bad mixture (think chlorine gas). We use liquid tide and liquid calgon water softener. Make sure you get water softener not fabric softener. We use the geo method exclusively.

I use a cup of Cascade dishwasher liquid with a couple gallons of water.

X3 Used the Geo Method for years as well.
(powder laundry soap & powder calgon water softener)

No odours, no plugs, level gauges keep working and saved money.

IMO... those expensive chemicals that brag to 'break down' the waste may do so after they reach the septic system ..but I find it hard to believe they will do any good for the few days they are in the holding tank of the RV.

I may be wrong... but, I just cant buy into the hype.

We also use the GEO Method exclusively. The black tank sensors work fine but the grey tank sensors are showing partially full when the tank is empty. We're trying degreasers to see if that helps. We have a good idea when the grey tank will be full so its not a big deal for us. It's only backed up into the shower pan (the lowest point) once so we know what the limit is.

In the Spring I'll be doing a treatment with RV Digest-It which should fix the sensor problem.

I used to use the Geo method, also used without.. Same results. I use a flush king and flush twice after dumping and all works well.

I've been exclusively using RV Digest-It and find it to work very well. Before a trip, I add about 4 gal of water and a couple of "glugs" to a pail and pour this down the toilet. Subsequent dumps show clear water flowing freely using the black tank rinse.

BTW, I've also used their Septic System Rejuvenator and Septic System Digester products with expected results at home.

I use GEO Method as well. I put a mixture of laundry soap and Calgon in the black tanks with a scoop of "Odorlos" granular. there is no reaction and it works great.

I use Waldex Elemonate in the gray tank with success.

Elemonate Grey Water Deodorizer and Tank Cleaner - Walex TOI-61776 - Sewer Deodorizers & Treatment - Camping World

When you're done your trip fill the tnaks with water and rinse, repeat....repeat.

My sensors are still working.

We used to have a full sized RV but we have down sized and now have a FR Rockwood HW. I want to use the home made black water treatment but can not find the amount I should use in a 5 gallon tank. I'm not worried about clogs or buildup, 5 gallons gets dumped very frequently, just odor control. Any one have an idea about the amount I would use?
We also use a 5 gal tank for our grey water. Other than commercial treatments what is a good grey water alternative?

The Geo Method serves to both prevent clogging and prevent odors. We don't use anything else.

Here's a link to the recipe:

You could probably reduce the quantities proportionately for your 5 gallon tank. It works on both black and grey tanks although you may want to occasionally use a degreaser in the grey tank if you do dishes in the sink.
