Tips on wiring LED awning lights?

Hello all. We have a new 2015 Coachmen Freelander 21RS with the 15' power awning.
Wife wants me to add under awning LED light strip. I have the Supernight Waterproof 5m kit from Amazon but need some help wiring it.

I found what I think is a 12v connection that powers the awning and it seems to have live power. It is in the 'magazine rack' above the door. It's above the TV power outlet.

This would be great if I can get the control module to fit, run the remote sensor and power leads out the hole where the awning power runs. It would eliminate the need for the 110AC/12v power supply.

Any thoughts?

Just mounted a set on my trailer and my FIL as well.... Ran the cable to the lights from the control box that was mounted inside, as well ran the IR receiver out the same hole as the light cable. Hot-glued the control box to the inside wall of the trailer. Used the power supply cable for the control box; just cut off the cable close to the power brick. Then spliced that power supply cable into the closest 12V light wires. The control box always has power available. The 12V light (inside a storage area) always had power available. The LED IR receiver drops down just below my awning arm and I've hot-glued it to the channel below the awning arm to keep it there.

Sitting in my lawn chair with my IR remote, I can fire up the lights from about 45-50' away. Same with the FIL trailer; just needed one hole drilled through the wall at the top of his awning arm (filled with silicone/foam afterwards) and his IR receiver is up where he can activate the lights from the same distance.

Hot taps into the 12V lights worked better than I thought they would and because the power brick downgrades the 110V power to 12V for the control box, you can tap directly into the trailer system instead and eliminate the brick/110V connection.

I put my control junction box with the IR receiver inside the exterior light housing. Removed the bulb and connected my 12 volt lead ( I cut the transformer end off the 12 volt lead, figured out which wire was (+) and which was (-) ) to the 12 volt supply for the stock light. I ran an extension wire into the trailer using the existing hole, then along inside the cabinets and out of the trailer ( I had to drill a hole for this) and connected to the led strip. The IR receiver works from inside the exterior light cover, and I can use the stock trailer light switch to turn the led strip on or off. The led strip turns back on to whatever mode I left it in, when I flick the trailer switch.

The cleanest and easiest install for me was to run a fresh 12v from an empty fuse spot on the distribution panel. I installed switches for the awning and step lights.
The awning led control box stays inside, led power wire goes through awning power wire hole to interior. Here is a link to my album.
