TST 507 Booster

I originally posted this on the only thread I could find on the subject, which was over a year old. The note to that threat seem to suggest I start a new thread, so I am.

I just purchased the TST 507 system and mounted the booster in the battery compartment of my 5th wheel. My question is: is there any detriment to leaving the power to the booster on all the time (rather than disconnect each time I set up camp)? I move about every 3-7 days. The booster is directly wired to my 12 volt battery.

Other then pulling a little power from your batteries there is to real down side to leaving it connected. No different then other hard wired items.

I know this doesn't answer your question but have you tried the TST without using the booster? I originally purchased a booster with mine as well and determined that it wasn't needed. Mine works fine all the time without the booster. A pleasant surprise...Also pleasantly surprised at battery life. I've had the original batteries in the sensors for 15 months with no issues. I only charge the monitor screen about 2x annually (helps to power it off at landing).

When I installed mine I just installed an on off switch on my battery box and is protected by the over hang on the cover to battery. Works great. Why leave power on if on don't have too. New color monitor works great also. Lot faster. Later RJD

I just received my TST Repeater yesterday, My system constantly looses the signal from one wheel the all of the rest. I can stop and it will reconnect. Hopefully the repeater will help. I am putting it in the battery compartment as well

This is what I did.
A small toggle switch inline and I can turn it off when parked.

I had the same problem.
I read where many users with longer rigs had no dropouts but at 35', I had the same issues described above.
The repeater solved my problem too.

Yes, I did try it for a month without the booster. I would go about an hour and half, then I would loose a reading on one or two tires. I turn the unit off and on again, and an hour an half, same thing. I called technoRV where I bought the unit, and they put me in touch with a tech from TST who told me I needed to install the booster (which i bought when I bought the unit). He is the one to suggest mounting it in the battery compartment of my 5th wheel, hooking directly to battery. On most recent trip of 4 hours, no problems.

Hello,

Many people mount the booster to the battery, the draw is very low. You should have no problems at all. If you have any questions feel free to contact meat 210-420-0132

I mounted my repeater in the battery box on my tt as well. The repeater draws next to nothing from battery so when I'm camping I just leave it on unless I'm stationary for long periods. But we like to Gypsy camp (moving from place to place every one to two weeks. Thinking maybe I might add a toggle switch someday so I don't have to remove the battery case top when I do want to turn the repeater off.
