Me too... but my filter connects at the hydrant BEFORE the hose!

We very seldom dry camp, so we never have any problem with water pressure. But I can imagine that a pressure tank would mighty handy indeed if we were using our fresh water tank all the time.

Can you post a link to your filters at Lowes? I haven’t found anything at the big box stores that’s cheaper in an equivalent filter to the one I’m using. Definitely nothing around US$9.

Didn't buy them on line, but I've bought them numerous times at both Lowes and Home Depot. Sometimes they're sold in twin packs. Almost identical to the photos.

Rusty, if you go to Lowes.com, you should be able to put 'water filters' in the search window and see the one you bought.

Don't have an account but went to website. They have A.O. Smith 2 pack for $14.98 (AO-WH-PRE-RCP 2) I think these are the carbon ones. The white one are similarly priced. They say whole house but they work fine. Without actually seeing them, not sure if they are the ones I just bought, but price is same and they look identical. Hope this helps.

We have gotten to the point of seldom bothering to hook up the water to our A-frame camper (and we rarely turn on the water heater). We cook, clean, eat and lounge at or near the picnic table. We fill various containers at the spigot when needed so not attaching a hose makes things easier. The only time the inside sink gets used is for brushing teeth - although that may change over time with the new High Wall A-frame, which has a bigger and deeper sink.
We usually travel with full water tank in case we end up dry camping. If there is not water at site, the outdoor shower serves as our water fill for containers at the picnic table.
For these reasons, we keep the inside factory water filter intact and replace the filter element every year or two. I do have a filter replacement hose setup ready to screw on in case the filter gets broken (a metal box slid into the filter on my old A-frame while towing and cracked the plastic filter bowl).

Found them on Lowes.com
They are a 5 micron filter which is not bad.
Those blue torpedo Camco filters come in 2 versions. The 40013 is only 100 microns which is only good as a sediment filter. The 40043 (or 40045 as a 2-pack) is better at 20 microns but still not the greatest. I believe that both of the versions have KDF to prevent bacteria growth in the filter.
The filter I'm using is 0.5 microns so they would be more expensive. It's a "modified carbon block" that is supposed to "remove chlorine taste/odor, chemicals and pesticides, cysts, lead and heavy metals" although this CDC website suggests it won't be very effective at removing chemicals. I think it's wise to have the best filter you can if the water source is a rural well especially in an agricultural area.

Problem is, the finer the filter, the faster they clog, leading to poor water pressure. Even when NOT clogged, I heard the very fine filters reduce your pressure/volume.

Fortunately I haven’t experienced any problems with the filters I’m using. I guess that’s why they are a bit pricier than others (but not as pricey as the OE filters).

I have been to campgrounds and in the back 40... the water can have a lot of junk from the system laying in the lines. I run the water a few minutes until clear and then use a filter.
