WDH hitch horror story

I posted on another site but I thought it was worth sharing here.
All set up this weekend and here comes a brand new 30ft TT so we like to watch people set up its kind of like watching a car wreck sometimes. Well this guy parked fine did his chocks and then he goes around camper All of of sudden you hear it...We run over he never released any pressure off WDH and it came down just about slicing his hand off blood everywhere a real bad deal. We get him stabilized and wife takes him away to ER. Few hrs later he comes back 38 stitches on hand a real mess. We start talking and I said we all make mistakes and he said this is the first time he ever owned a camper and the dealer never showed him how to use WDH. Guy could have been killed so my buddy and I went thru and did our own PDI with him and we got a big thank you. End of the day don't ever get to confident these WDH can hurt or kill.

Wow. Very lucky it was only 38 stitches.
It really should be more of a requirement that everyone even experienced are walked thru more at delivery.

What part of the WDH was it that injured him? The bar saddle?

Those things plus the cheater bar always scared the beejeepers outta me.

This was one of the bigger reasons we went to a 5er when we got back from overseas...just too many things can go wrong (and besides those darn things are heavy!!)

This is a scary story to read! 38 stiches is a lot of mending. Thank you for providing some one-on-one instructions on what to do. It can make a big difference including save a life.
