Odds are your first trailer or motorhome won't be your last. Your needs and wants will change depending on your stage of life.

When you can, help someone else. It will make your day (and maybe their week).
When you see that "little" issue with the RV, fix it now!

Buy a lug wrench. Sitting on the side of the road with a flat and having no way to change the tire is a less than ideal time to learn that this new RV you bought doesn't come with one.

Get Out And Look
Get out of the vehicle and look at things yourself. Don't depend on mirrors or "helpers".

BOTH camping partners do a walk-around check before pulling out. Camper #1 can be convinced that everything is good to go and Camper #2 can come behind and find that stabilizers are still on the ground or step has not been stored. Ask me how I know.

Flush twice with two full bowls of water. Water is your friend unless you prefer the brown pyramid of death.

Really? I do that all the time and it's never been an "issue." Of course, I never run the fan without a window cracked open somewhere in the camper... these boxes are pretty air tight so you need a source of make up air when running any of the exhaust fans (bath or range hood).

TST Toilet Treatment
If smell is a problem, it is time to add a tiny bottle of TST treatment, available at Walmart. We've gone two weeks on the houseboat without pumping, and with no odors. It is inexpensive, and works better than any of the more expensive solutions we tried on the houseboat. Oxyclean works too, but wasn't good for our aluminum tank.
I dumped my tank in the fall, and ran some water into it later for some unremembered reason. I was surprised by the large amount of solids still in the tank. I'm going to try the GEO method this year.

GEO method + copious amounts of water via the black tank flush after dumping makes a world of difference.

Ditto on the black tank flush. I'll let my run for 15 minutes EVERY time I empty before packing up.

Stuff will happen
Stuff will happen: Where ever you get a flat there will be no Cell service.
Home Depoe will only have 2 of the 3 parts you need.
You will forget how it goes back together.
The storage cabinet you forgot to lock will be the one you can’t see in the mirror, the
door will bounce open, and it will be empty when you get there.
The part you received will not look anything like the part you ordered.
The GPS will be wrong.
When all is said and done, if you can’t find a laugh after it happens, you’ve picked the wrong hobby.

It may be more of a southern diet thing as to the smell factor, as I am with Bobaloo there. I made that mistake once............... and only once.
