Why don't they put these in at factory?

I LOVE those shelves! I first tried adding the cloth shelves, which just sagged and didn't do well at all. I read somewhere I think on this forum about using Command hooks and thin wooden shelves, which is what we did. And the shelves are awesome! The hardest part was fitting in the corners to install them!

We have in both our short closets beside our bed wire sweater drying rack. The nice thing is that we have the wire shelves when we need them and can stack them as well but can fold them when we just want hanging clothes there.

Unfortunately It will be next week before I can get some pictures of them inside the closet. We bought them years ago and used them in our popup and then kept them when we upgraded to our TT. I will post a picture next time we are out.

I did find some on Amazon that look like what we have.

I consider this when I bought the TT, but it gives me shivers to think of drilling/screwing into the outside wall. So, ended up with collapsible cloth shelves from Walmart. It works....but not like those shelves will.


How did you attach the supporting hooks, etc?

Edit: I've used Command strips in the past with some success, however the interior of theoutside wall is textured, so not a smooth surface to "command" to.

The command hooks attach well to the textured outer walls, but not the smooth wood grain panels. . .we drilled small holes in the backs of the hooks and used small screws to install them with. Small enough not to create any issues.

After looking at the OP's picture& showing it to the other half, I realize that I have 'another' mod to do now. I looked inside the wardrobe closets of our 26RR and there isn't much there ~ thought about adding vertical panels of 3/8" plywood to attach the shelving to. No need to permanently attach the plywood to anything as the shelves would take care of that. Make a cardboard template to guide the cuts in the ply, trial fit both sides, mark & drill shelve locations, stain & finish, install both sides and insert the shelving. That's the process I'll be going with when the time arrives for 'this' mod.

Great idea!

We use a version of these in our rig.
Just narrow enough to fit through the door and I didn't use the wheels.
When we get underway I pull the unit to the edge, next to the door frame so if I have to get on the brakes really hard it is already as far forward as it will go. When we arrive I slide it to the back wall and have space to pull the drawers out. We found ours on sale.

We bought one of those plastic tower 4 drawer units at Target, and set it inside the wardrobe closet, minus the castor wheels. It's a few inches narrower than the inside of the closet so we do hang our jackets up, too.
