Winterizing Tires-Don't forget

Most folks remember to flush out water from their lines and/or replace it with antifreeze.

However, how many of you remember to winterize your tires by replacing the summer air with winter air?

One of the least appreciated benefits of nitrogen filled tires. Since nitrogen freezes around -346 degrees Fahrenheit, you don’t need to worry about seasonal changes in your tire air composition. Have used nitrogen exclusively in my tires for the last three years any have not once experienced any damage as shown by the OP.

But Forest River buys the tire/rims as a package. Depending on when they were aired up, they could have summer or winter air in them already. [emoji3]

Tires are like thermos bottles. It keeps hot things hot, and cold things cold. The mystery is......How does it know?

I only use 5W/30 air in all my tires. Good for all seasons.

Have you tried the newer synthetic air? It lets you go longer between pressure checks.

The sad thing about this thread is that some unsuspecting newbie is going to pick up on this and take it to heart as the gospel.

There are so many anecdotal rules that people have and post on these forums, you are right.

When I wanted a new air compressor, I purchased a model that pumps out 78% nitrogen. Not quite as good as pure nitrogen, but I don't have the hassle or cost to get the pure stuff. And as oxygen leaks out of the tire and I top off, the % of nitrogen in the tire only goes up!

Doubtful, as it's about to be moved to the joke subforum.

Also, don't forget to rotate the air in your tires regularly throughout the year.

I had tire place pump 78% nitrogen into my tires, but they did knock off 22% of the cost of nitrogen.........

Since regular ol air is 78% nitrogen, I fill tires up, then bleed off exactly 22%. Then I refill each with air. Then bleed off 22%. Refill with air, and bleed off 22%.
Eventually I'll get to 100% nitrogen!!!
Blinker fluid is also changed to the "anti-freeze" formula.
Muffler bearings are re-packed with synthetic cherry-berry grease.

Don't forget that the cherry-berry muffler bearing grease is only to be used on the Chinese made Cherry Bomb mufflers.

Nitrogen in the tires is the biggest "consumer hoax" since the ads for X-ray glasses that used to appear on the back pages of comic books in the '50's & early '60's.
