We recently bought a 176 pop up tent trailer. After a rain on our first outing we brought it home and set it up in the garage to dry. The next morning while opening the garage door the emergency handle from the door opener punched completely through the roof and traveled about 1 1/2 feet before stopping. The roof seems to be made from an aluminum sheath bonded to styrofoam. I am wondering if someone could recommend a best method of repair. Any help would be greatly appreciated. A new roof delivered here would be around $2000 according to a local dealer. Out of our price range
Might try filling the torn styrofoam with expanding foam and patching the aluminum with aluminum flashing and J-B Weld.

Thanks for the replies, thought I would post my solution. First, I did end up filling the void with spray foam insulation, I used the non-expanding variety to avoid any oozing. Then upon closer inspection the outside skin appeared to be made from fiberglass not aluminum as I first thought. I rooted around in my sailboat supplies and found some white colored two part epoxy made by Goop. I spread this in two seperate applications on the inside and out. It is obviously noticeable that I patched it but it made a nice clean join which now after two rains and a soaking with the hose has proved to be watertight...so...all is good for now. Thanks for all the suggestions.
