2318g deal fell thru so we got a 2514G coming

Well the dealer on the 2318g made a mistake and did not tell me the 2318G did not have a few options we wanted. So we found a 2514G and pick it up Saturday after the install the AC on it. It has more stuff than I need but is a few feet longer and has a storage area on the front. Guess it all worked out!
Quick question, the dealer is telling me I will not need a WDH and sway bar on this since my 2014 GMC 1500 will tow it just fine, thoughts? should I still have them put one on it?

The weights are similar to my 2317g. I tow withmy F150 without WDH or sway. No issues for me. I have a front storage trunk as well. It is great.

Too bad the deal didn't go through for you with the 2318. But the 2514g's are nice. I think he is right on towing with the 1500. I have a gmc sierra 1500, and although I don't usually tow the camper with it, I have without any problems. I usually tow the camper with a 2003 trailblazer. And my boat with the p/u. The reason being is my wife feels more comfortable driving the trailblazer and towing the camper.

2514g is nice. We bought one in the late fall to replace 03 coleman Utah (very similar). Owing to weather/time constraints it goes on maiden voyage this weekend.

I always used a single bar Reese light duty WDH with the Reese sway bar on the Utah behind a Ford Explorer v6. I now have a Reese SC 2bar WDH (also does sway control) for the 2514g since there is too much interference to fit the old single bar one. Towed very nicely on the ride home.

My dealer also told me I did not need one for the Explorer. Wrong. It makes a huge difference in leveling out the Explorer. They also said sway control would not be needed. Also wrong. Nearly lost it once when I failed to tighten the sway bar. (THAT is now on the TRIPLE check list with non-optional wife override in force.)

Naturally, ymmv with the GMC.

Your GVWR is 3300 very similar to my 228BH which is 3100 lbs. I have towed the 228BH with my 1500 Silverados; and even a Hummer H3 and never had a sway issue; even on those days where the wind gusts were hitting 50 mph.

However, I did add rear air bags, but that is due to my extremely high tongue weight.

Having watched a TT begin to sway in front of me, then flop onto its side dragging the TV into the median where it also rolled over, I'd never tow without sway protection. Is $100 too much for some added safety?

I tow my 2514G with a 2012 Chevy Silverado 4x4 extended cab 1500 series with no problem at all. I have the factory tow package along with an auxiliary transmission oil cooler and it tows great! I did add a Tekonsha P3 brake controller as my truck didn't have the factory brake controller option. I don't think you'll need to worry about adding sway control and certainly not a WDH.

I towed my 2514g all the way to Yellowstone and back with an F150 with no WDH or sway, and we did just fine. Even in the mountains and such, the old Ford did fine. You should be fine without it, stick that money into something else.

Pulled like a dream on the way home no sway or WDH! 5 hours home and was perfect.

Nice to hear of another 2514G owner! We got our 2514G at the end of Jan. Really love the floor plan (didn't want a full on commode in our PUP).

Have only stayed in it two nights on two separate weekends out in the backyard but everyone was comfy and it was a lot fun. Haven't pulled it much. Took it up to the mountains once just to check it out. 4$runner pulled it like a dream. Keep thinking I should get an Anderson No Sway hitch anyhow just for the extra safety, but am going to see how it does on our first real trip first. A 2 hour jaunt down to Mueller State Park west of Pikes Peak.

We have a 2514G also and love it. Second year with it. Have our first trip of the season coming up in a couple of weeks. We tow with our Honda Pilot and I have not found it sways. 4 hours away is about our max trips. Our next two vehicle will probably be an F150. Enjoy your new camper!

Congrats on the new pup. We also bought a new 2514g last month. Beautiful layout and plenty big enough. Going on my second trip tomorrow with some work buds. I pull mine with a 99 Dodge ram van 1500. And pulled it with no sway or issues. Many great trips!

Congrats! We will be picking our 2514g on the 23rd. After much discussion with our dealer and with GMC, they do not recommend using a WDH or sway bar on our V6 Terrain AWD to pull this trailer. Has something to do with the stabilitrak programming and other such things according to them. We did have a brake controller installed as required. Looking forward to getting out and camping with her!

Hey all! Picking up our 2514G this weekend and have a quick question. How long (inside dimensions) is the front pull out tray? I am looking to pick up a screen tent and have a choice between two of them. Which one depends on this measurement. Thanks.

Not sure. Can measure when I get home. I keep my screen room inside the pop up when traveling. Wouldn't have room for it in the try if I wanted too, lol. I have the CLAM 6 pack. Not sure if it would fit our not. Might see if the FR website has the measurement also.

Thanks! That is the one I am looking at. It's between the 6pack (now called the escape if in brown/biege) and the pavillion which is 150 x 150. Seems to be a very nice screen room, like the way it sort of sets itself up almost.

We saw the 6 pack at a camp ground someone had and was sold. Only used it one time but it is so easy to use. It really is as easy as the you tube videos make it look. I dropped it down in 30 seconds by myself while the wife was inside. Hardest part is wrapping it up and getting it back in the bag.
