2318G Dinette seat back boards

Took our new 2016 2318G out this weekend and when my father in law sat back in the seat in the dinette the screws securing the hinges for the seat back pulled out of the seat bottom. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue. And how they fixed it

Either take it back to the dealer and have them fix. Or relocate the hing with beefier screws.

My 228D had plastic hinges attaching the seat backs to the seats. I removed them and replaced with piano hinges from a hardware store. Much stronger and more screws holding it down. Worked for me.

Ditto matwiyj, those plastic hinges and small screws are just waiting to break. It's just a matter of how soon and at the most inconvenient time!

The hinges are metal but they used maybe a 3/8 1/2 inch wood screw. Was thinking of drilling them thru the bench and putting machine screws with a fender washer and nuts to hold them in hopefully strengthen them up a little bit. Dealer is only going to use the same screws I'm afraid and its going to happen everytime I use it.

I've had to retighten mine. And I added a couple extra screws to hold it together better. Probably something i'll have to keep checking on.

I had the same issue on my new 232ESP. My seat backs didn't make it one night with the kids. Also, the hinges for the storage under the dinette were ripped out before I left from delivery inspection. It too has very similar hinges. The dealer shrugged at me when I pointed it out. I plan to use full length piano hinges as a fix. If anyone has a better idea, I am interested. I have concerns that the piano hinges may not hold up either.

Definitely drill through and bolts with washers and nuts. We had to do this on our old Palomino and it worked until we sold it. Small screws in thin plywood will never hold.
