2516g Maiden Voyage

We finally got our camper home last Friday - just in time for a weekend trip at Pocahontas State Park. No gas or water this time, since we didn't really have a chance to familiarize ourselves with all the works prior to taking off. All went well, and everyone had a great time - well, everyone but Fushi (our Shih Tzu Puppy.) She missed her canopy bed, and I'm pretty sure she tried to run away to the nearest resort hotel a few times. She'll get used to camping soon enough, I'm sure!

I tried to post some pics; I hope I did it correctly. Can't wait it get her out there again with everything set up and see how it goes.

Cheers all!

I concur, Dmo. The gizmos were a great purchase. I'm glad I learned about them early on - I actually got the delivery from Bob a week before we got the trailer home. We received a lot of complements and inquiries about them this weekend.

Looking forward to many good memories traveling with this trailer, Terier. We're home now and our youngest (just turned three) is so upset that we can't go stay in our "new house" tonight.

We also have a new 2516g......love it. You might find it easier to tow if you used a weight distributing hitch. Our tow vehicle is about the same size as yours and it sits very level once you set up the hitch.
BTW.......two lessons we have learned that we will pass on to you. The small door.....try not to open and close too many times without raising the the top some......the grey door sweep on top will tear towards the hinge side. Second, the outside table......it doesn't like torrental downpours so bring it in at night. We had to toss ours but I saved the hardware and am making another out of a butcher block......pics to follow once I have finished.

Looks good! May I make a recommendation? Might want to switch your interior lights over to LED's. Just switched because our daughter was always leaving the lights/ a light on. We went with the LED panels and our battery usage seems to have dropped.

Trevor43 & Hondaman174 - Thank you for the tips. Being a newbie, all ideas are definitely welcome. When we picked up our camper, they told us during the walkthrough to always fold the grey door flap down with our fingers before pushing it in to close, otherwise it'll rip off. We're going to look into changing out the lights, as well.

Cheers!

Just a little south of Richmond - we're about 15 minutes from Pocahontas, so it's perfect for short weekend getaways. We're transferring to Fort Bliss (El Paso, TX) this fall, however.

Now you can visit the great state parks in West Texas and New Mexico. I assume you are in the Army?

Ahhhhh.....Petersburg. We are up here in Hanover. Some other places you may want to consider camping......Camp Hatteras on the Outer Banks.

Yes, my husband is military. We're in South Chesterfield - just a quick shot up the road to Pocahontas campgrounds. Thanks for the tip, Trevor43 - I'll check out Camp Hatteras!

New Mexico has some beautiful locations, and I'm super excited to be just a days drive from northern Arizona, too. Prescott and Sedona are some of my favorite places. I'm not familiar with West Texas, though. We spent 4 years at Fort Hood (Central Texas), but this will be our first experience with the El Paso area - aside from driving through quickly. So, if you have any suggestions for places to visit, jpetrey, I'd love to hear them!

Cheers,
Autumn

Saraswati, I also want to thank you and your husband for your service!! THANK YOU!

And, I'd also recommend White Sands National Monument in New Mexico - just a short drive from Ft. Bliss. White Sands National Monument - White Sands National Monument There's nothing like sledding down a sand dune!!!!

FarFromStock,

Your support is greatly appreciated - thank you kindly. I've never been to White Sands, though I hear it's pretty there - I'll definitely add it to my list of places.

Cheers,
Autumn
