2716G and other 12' box with trunk Pop Ups

The 2716G being a 14' box and the others being 12' boxes with front trunks.

Can these fit in most single or 2 car garages?

I don't have a garage but did some research and found a 1 car garage is normally 12' width X 20' Length and a 2 car garage is normally 20' width X 20' length, which means that these Pop Ups won't really fit in a garage since only a few inches from going through the wall is left. Don't think I really want to push it on my next home's garage. BUT maybe I'm wrong and most garages are longer.

Also, I've been looking at the Freedom 2318G being it's nice and short, nice and light, has great payload (CCC), and has a light tongue weight.

The 2716G and 2516G both have very heavy dry tongue weights close to 400 lbs.

I really don't want to use a weight distribution hitch (WDH) like I do on the travel trailer. It's a lot of hassle honestly. With these Premier Pop Ups loaded, Tongue weights could be close to the 500 lbs that requires a weight distribution hitch (WDH) on most pickups and close to the MAX tongue weight rating on most Crossover based SUVs.

For that reason, the Freedom 2318G seems like the ideal Pop Up but dealer would have to order one. The dealer does have a 2019 Premier 2716G on the lot though.

You are right on the dimensions of most newer garages - at least in Colorado. Our previous house could only manage a 12ft box, without a front storage trunk. Our present house has almost exactly 21ft with the door closed (considered to be a bigger than normal garage). The big A-frames (14ft box with front storage trunk) will only fit when I remove the spare tire - gains about 6in with tire off, but bracket still mounted. Forest River dimensions are accurate to within an inch or two.

But the extra space was/is really worthwhile for our purposes. Our dealer says orders take about 2 months - but he orders pretty big quantities. He only sells Flagstaff pop-ups and A-frames. We ended up taking an A-frame he had in stock that had a fair number of cosmetic blemishes inside and out for a reduced price. It was the model we wanted.

We use an Equalizer E2 600/6000 to tow the A-frame with our minivan. The WDH hitch head is about 55 lbs, and putting the bars on adds about 4 minutes to hitch up time or setup time at the campsite. The difference in ride with the WDH is incredible.

We store our 2716g outside under a ADCO cover and a canopy. I dont know if this works for you. I pulled it out yesterday to get ready for a trip this weekend. All was good. Gave her a s=wash and she is ready to go.

2318G Tongue Weight

We bought a new 2017 2318G, w/o toilet/shower, earlier this year.

Empty, with a battery and full propane tank, the tongue weight was over 350 lbs, probably closer to 375, maybe more. Wasn't expecting that much.

After packing several heavy items (pots & pans, outdoor stove, grill table, another table and a few other things) between the rear bunk and the dinette slide, I was able to get it down to 340 lbs.

The whole thing weighs 2870 packed and would prefer to have the TW down to about 300-310.

It still tows just fine on the Tacoma though. I'd just prefer a little less weight on the back of the truck.

Just wanted to let the OP know that if you add the other ~400 lbs of cargo, that we haven't, the only place to put it is in front of the axle on the 2318G. So a WDH might be needed depending on what you're towing with.

Thank you for the response. I guess that's okay as it's under 400 lbs and most vehicles will be able to tow that.

I have a built up 2016 F150 built to tow heavy travel trailers with over 10,700 lbs towing and 1890 lbs payload as built and optioned so the pop up will be an easy tow. However any tongue weight over 500 lbs on any 1/2 ton pickup and even some 3/4 ton pickups, require a weight distribution hitch.

Plus many SUVs can not handle tongue weight over 500 lbs so that's important as we may later get a Ford Edge and I want a camper that easy to store anywhere, and can be towed by most anything.

With my current 29' travel trailer, I found out just what a pain it can be due to it's large size.

Since I'm buying new, I want to find something that can fit in a garage since even in areas that allow outside parking, many homes don't have an area accessible to the side or rear of the home for travel trailer storage.

Thanks for responding.
