2716g, do you guys have any way to keep rain from pooling....

....on the dinette tent top. Already tightened tent but dinette bunk pole system doesn't allow rain water to run off since it's not a V shaped or round shape like other pop up trailer brand's dinette bunk pole system.

Design just allows water to catch on tent section between the top straight across beam and roof. It catches water before water could roll of on downward beam tent section on the side tent sections or over the taller seam lip on the front of the tent section. Eventually when water is deep enough, it does spill over the sides but it still leaves pooling which I have always tried to avoid with tents, pop ups, and awnings.

Looks to be the same on most floorplans of the dinette slide bunks so I'm wondering if people just let it pool then push tenting to drain water off or if others have devised a system to keep it from happening.

This is the 2019 I had previously but never had it setup in the rain. You can see the 2 spots in red I circled that catch rain.

So I'm guessing the smaller amounts of pooling water on the top of the dinette is a normal thing?

The design with the horizontal header pole going across the top, with the push out pole in the center, doesn't let the water drain off the sides as a V shaped pole does on other brands.

Guess pooling water was a trade off to getting higher headroom in the slide out opposed to others.

We had the same deal on our Coleman PUP and on our 233T Hybrid. On both we used PUG'S and when we saw the dip in the tent ends we just pushed up on it and splash. It wasn't to big a problem for us and probably is normal.

i don't remember water pooling on the tenting being an issue on our old HW 277 popup - nor is it an issue on our hybrid. They all had the same pole arrangement (though i do have PUGS on the hybrid, so i think they may help with shedding water).

Looks like you could get some 1 or 2” PVC, measure the width then, cut and cap off the ends. Then heat it so you have a gentle slope aka very wide upside down V. Simply slide that over your canopy support. I drilled a hole through mine and slid the support through the PVC. The canopy supported the PVC brace, preventing it from moving and encouraged water to slide off before pooling. I painted it to match the canopy, you could not even tell it was there.

We have the same issue. So far, we've just pushed up on the canvas and drained the water manually. I am thinking about cutting a slit in a pool noodle and placing it around the support pole for added height to see if this creates enough drain to prevent the pooling.

Thanks for the help. I believe you have a HW277. Have you had any damage from it?

Some who have the HW277 say theirs doesn't have the issue while others say it does. I wonder if the tolerance for the tent allows variances that would cause the issue on some campers and not on others.

I wonder if getting an extension on the rafter pole would help.

Well, I found a copper fitting transition that was 3/8" X 1/2". It inserted perfectly into the pole and extended the 1/2" diameter pole another 1/2" in length.

It tightened up the roof where I wouldn't want it any tighter. So I sprayed water on the roof from my hose for quite a while.

Unfortunately, it collected water in the same spots. So this proved tightening up the roof didn't help.

It appears that the 2716g super large 80" X 50" slide out roof is just to wide and flat not to collect water. As this was really a concern to me, I messaged others and found almost a 50/50 split of some who have the water collecting on the roof and others who do not. So I wonder if it doesn't partly have to do with the side to side leveling and if your dinette roof is pitched forward or back determining if you roof collects water or not.

Next thing I may try is the pool noodle as many have suggested. Adding the noodle in a perpendicular fashion to the rafter pole. This should help to push up on the areas collecting water, and hopefully to stop it. Or I may just leave it as some have mentioned it hasn't done any harm to the tent when theirs has been collecting the water.
