There may be better products out now. Only do the outside. After every trip, and we even do it to my TT now, give it a good bath and let it dry completely before folding it back down and storing. Never had a problem with mildew. It looked as good the day we sold it as the day we bought. Forget about sleeping late, you'll wake up as the campground wakes up!
with the vinyl canvas that is used these days, you do not have to treat it with anything. seasoning is simply hosing it down real good with water to allow the threads to swell and this seals the seams. allow to dry and I did a second round of hosing to ensure the canvas does not leak. nothing else should be needed. for washing the canvas, use oxiclean and laundry detergent.
to the OP, enjoy your first outing off the ground. we did the same thing, tented many years before getting the pup. loving every minute with the pup, but it be one steep learning curve.....
