My HW 277 came with one of these too. The dealer had no clue what it was for. The only thing I can think of is that it's some kind of probe or alignment guide.

Among all the things that have been upgraded......one of them is a new winch motor that is faster and more heavy duty. Dealer says that the tool is used for adjustment. Told me to look in the manual for the motor...........it adjust the limit switches on the winch motor.

If you wave it correctly and say "erecto", your trailer may set up by itself. But if you say "reducto", you won't have a place to sleep...
