I put an A&E on a Coleman 12' pup I had a while back. Worked great. I bought it from camping world and I think it was listed for the pup. I think it was called an A&E 2 step or something like that.

I see the a&e awnings at camping world. There is not a pup version listed and I can not see how these would work. The vertical pieces would have to telescope when the roof is lowered or raised???? Maybe no longer made?

Yes I had to mount two brackets on the lower part of the pup to attach the legs to. The legs detach and fold back up into the awning. The 2 steps were (after you raised the pup)
1. release and lower the legs from the awning housing and attach to the brackets on the lower part of the pup.
2. Roll the awning out by pulling on it from the center.
Then the legs were adjustable so you could set at what height and angle you wanted for rain drainage.
I'll call my dad later, he has always been my camping mentor, and ask if he remembers any more.

The awning I've seen is for a cavan ,truck but not sure what kinda twist or weight load on a pup roof it would have. At least till you mounted the outer legs. Is there any pup engineers on here??

You seem to be describing the a&e horizon model. I had originally discounted that awning as it it for truck campers. They do not post weights, maybe an inquiry is in order.

If you look at shippin fv weight most my size are 50lbs or so but what I'm talking about is the weight as it opens and the stress on the side of the roof.

The only thing I cab think of is if some how you could mount through the support arms but then what would you do about the safety supports? Oh well just dreaming I guess. Maybe I'll try the next FR weekend at Goshen IN and start a conversation. US HW owners need something maybe even one like a Hi Lo TT have.

The one I used was the A&E Catalina 2500. Here is a link to the installation manual. I don't recall it being much heavier than the bag awning that it replaced.
http://www.scamptrailers.com/images/...alina_2500.pdf
If you can't open the link you can Google it and find a few copies. I had the 12' one.
Found the weight to be from 39 to 55 lbs depending on what size you get.
Not sure if they are still making them

May not be available, I only see replacement parts for them. And the existing trimline awning is listed at 17 lb. So these are a bit heavier. the dometic 8500 seems to be very similar to the catalina and is listed at 46 lbs.

I asked the forest river/Rockwood rep and he said there is no other awning for popups and that the 8500 would not work as it has those vertical supports. The weight limit of the roof is 400 lbs, but he did not answer my question on whether or not there was a weight limit for the awning or if the awning weight would effect the function of the roof.

Thank you. I'm thinking the weight leverage at extention out till legs were down wound hurt the roof cause being off level can affect the door alone.

I asked about the Dometic 9500 which is self supporting and does not have the legs but its at 90 pounds. he said that definitely would not work because the pop-up roof does not have the structure needed to support the mounts for that kind of awning.
