BAL Tire Stabilizers are tight on HW296

Today was the first time I was able to get around the pop up and check certain things out. I have been itching to go poke around it because I picked it up so late last year and I want to do little mods to make it my own and figure out where I want to put and keep things.

So I bought the BAL tire stabilizers that they sell to stabilize twin axle campers. There is very little space for these suckers to slide in between the tires. I had to tilt the tire pads to better align with the curve of the tires just to get it on. But they do fit and I think they will work out well with the rocking back and forth. Especially when I need to crank up the front jack high when the land contour requires it.

Cannot wait to get out camping. This has been a long winter and I want to get out.

Vin.

My BAL looks different thatn your BAL...

As for size, mine fits a 215x70 15 tire with no problem.

Vin

Mine works great on paved areas but on soft wet ground the bal tends to sink and is hard to slide under or get out. I cut 2 pieces of 1/4 plywood to drive on b4 I use the level. Those seam to work. They even fit in the outside storage door so I can store them under the leveler. I'll get pics next month.

I just last weekend had my first issue with not being able to get the BAL leveler around the tire on a soft, wet surface. We have a 2010 Coachmen Clipper Sport 126 ST.

I live in a hi-rise apartment building, and since there's no "camp driveway" here for me I have to take it to a local state campground for a day in the spring to make sure all is well before I start the season. We call it our "shake out."

Anyway, we just dug a slight trench around the tire to get the leveler in place. Had we been spending the weekend and not just a few hours I likely would have sought a better solution, but it worked nicely for 6 dry hours. That said, after reading about carrying plywood along, I may just do that from now on! Seems a lot smarter and safer!

I have used the BAL on just about every trip -- I wouldn't camp without it!

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was not commenting on the BAL levelers but the BAL stabilizers. They are sometimes called X-Chocks.

This is what I was talking about.

I got the bal single axel leveller this past winter. I can't wait to use it as I have read it's one if the best accessories you can have for a tent trailer .

Well, I used to swear by the BAL, and still say it is great; however, this past weekend I tried the Andersen leveler, and balanced side-to-side in seconds. Back up to where you want to camp, place the ramp in front of a tire, pull forward till level side-to-side, place vehicle in park AND apply parking break (many vehicles will roll and inch or two if only in park). Then place the chock that comes with it at the back of the tire; and you are done.

And after three days of camping with wind gusts up to 55 mph from the side and back, the trailer did not loose level. So, it does work.

The big brown truck delivered our BAL X-Chocks yesterday evening, the 28012 double pack. They are a close fit with our Dexter TorFlex axles, but after adjusting the tire pads to fit the curvature of the tires, they drop right in. I snugged them up and went inside the trailer and noticed a big improvement. I'm a believer!

Yep. I have yet to test mine out but I am hoping to share your experience.
